I really wanted a GT but it wasn't reasonable at the time.. my insurance rates alone are through the roof so after driving all 3 I decided on getting the EB when I originally planned on getting a V6.

The EB sold me on the launches Lol.. sales man let me rip it over and over.. not sure that was a good idea considering I bought the damn thing after abusing it for 30 minutes.

Having had two V8 Fox bodied Mustangs and now the 15 V6 I can honestly say the V8 will always be special. The pull off the line, the powerband, and of course the SOUND, is just something everyone should experience and even though my Foxes had less HP and were Far less sophisticated than this new car.
That being said, this V6 is incredibly underrated in every way, especially by public perception, magazines, FORD, and of course by the "V8 Only" crowd in the ponycar wars. I've lived with this car since April. It does pull hard for a V6, does have a really good sound, and can out handle and outperform my old cars in every category. I get that the S550 GTs and Ecoboosts have more HP and Torque ( although with the Eco, only on Premium Gas), but This car is very fun to drive at 6-8/10ths and gets really good MPGs to boot! With the 051A package, this car looks killer and rides smoothly and handles very well. I never ever feel like I'm in a "chicks car" whatever that means in this day and age. I'll add some HP and beef up some components so it will always be a good performer and handle well. I'm not driving the car on a track nor going 100 plus MPH on roads so for what my needs are, it fits perfectly and will continue to do so for many years to come.

If I had tons of money? I'd buy the GT but I'd still have the V6 because I do love this car so much! If money's an issue, get the V6 and really drive it. I'm sure you'll enjoy your decision and love your car like I do.

Couldn't afford a gt so I went with the ecoboost since I do plan to mod the car. Wish my car atleast sounded like a v6 lol

As the old saying goes, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Last year, Autoweek or one of the magazines took a V6 6sp Mustang with the PP or whatever it was back then and put a professional driver in it VS a GT with one of their editors who was a good driver but not a pro. The Pro in the V6 just killed him by several seconds on every lap. Moral of the story is- spend your money on a good driving school not mods for your car!

V6 should do just fine for most people. As has been pointed out several times, today's v6 makes more power than the 3v 4.6 of only several years ago. But to everyone acting like the 5.0 cars are just insanely fast....in today's wotld of performance cars even the 5.0 isn't anything terribly special.

OP, check your insurance rates number one, and number two, get the heck out of negative equity before making a move. Do not succumb to your material desires at the cost of your financial well being. The second you have a GT you'll ask "now what?"

That being said, I had a 2014 V6 for a year and a half then traded for a 2015 GT. Pretty much on a whim due to work stress. No regrets, but I had a good financial situation on the loan and insurance. The GT is like a jet engine. The 2nd gear pull from 10mph is nothing you've ever felt. If you're not giggling, you're feeling waves and waves of terror. :)

If it's anything like 3 second motorcycles, then the biggest difference is the ACCELERATION. It will push you back so hard like you've never felt before in your life and you're just trying to hang on for dear life. That acceleration will become obnoxiously addicting for the first few weeks, and it will become a feeling of instantaneous POWER WHENEVER you want. It's almost like magic being able to hit that accelerator and getting from A to B right away, whether it's 100 ft away or 1000 ft away.

I don't understand people getting a model then upgrading to GT. You should have measured twice and cut once. So you didn't have enough for a GT, and now you have enough plus taking a couple thousand hit?
Shoulda done a lot of things in life. Shoulda this, shoulda that, then you're dead.

I think the reason why V6 Mustangs (and Camaros) get a bum rap is because American car companies tend to put little effort into making a good V6.
Japanese and German cars have smooth, punchy 6s, whereas if a car is available with a V8, the V6 engine seems like an incredible afterthought of engineering and lack of power.
That's been true up until this point, where the V6 in the Mustang has been great.

I still doubt it's in the same league as Nissan with the 370Z or any performance 6 cyl. I still think while Ford made it have 300 horse, it still doesn't have the performance-oriented engine design. Nevertheless, it's a LOT faster than the base Mustang engines ever were. Before when you got on them, they were buzzy and felt like they wanted to die. That's true of most American car's base engine when there is a bigger one available. I think they do it on purpose, detune it to prop up the upgrade.

That's because those are put in the lineup for budget - minded folks. You don't see anyone talking about how awesome the NA Supras or Skylines were, or how awesome a 328 is because there's a 335, because those are the lower budget models.

Traded a 15 GT for a ecoboost. Only thing I miss is stopping at gas station often. Granted me don't drive fast on the street and no longer have interest in taking car to the track as the risk are too high for me these days.
