Welp… turn out my vibration issues I had (https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/driveline-vibration.203519/) is actually the engine shaking and being off balance from being down 2 cylinders. (Cyl 3&1) I took it to a reputable shop and they diagnosed it.

This explains why it kept misfiring, even with new spark plugs.
Does this mean engine damage?

The shop told me “because you’re having issues with your valves, the 2 cylinders aren’t firing.”

Did they do a compression test?

It kind sounds like all they did was hook up a scan tool.
How did they determine the valves are at fault?
I would have thought that a compression test, a leak down test and a good examination with a bore scope would have been in order at a bare minimum.

I don’t think so. They didn’t mention anything about a compression test. They only mentioned that the engine was shaking badly and the sound it was making when misfiring.

I would run a compression check for sure.

Are you able run one? (If not it is pretty simple)

Yeah that shop threw up their hands after checking the codes. They don’t know why its misfiring they just said ‘ask ford’.

What mileage were the last few oil changes? Any maintenance recently? Like a clutch change perhaps?

Oil change is always on time. Every 3 months.
Clutch + flywheel + slave cylinder + lines bleed done 7k miles ago.

Why I’m leaning towards what they’re saying, is because it checks out with why I’m misfiring. Any pull I do 3rd gear + over 4-5k rpm, I start misfiring. You can feel and hear it misfiring, and 30 seconds later, it’s back to normal cruising.

Sounds to me like the clutch job forgot misfire monitor correction. I think it’s possible in forscan, but I never tired.

Has this been happening ever since the clutch job? If so, you probably just need a crank relearn.

Its common to get misfires after a clutch until you do the crank relearn procedure.

But according to the paper you posted they didn't diagnose anything. Just said it's misfiring and take it to Ford.
Seems like they not only don't have a clear diagnosis they don't want to work on it anyway.

Nope, it only started two months ago. It randomly started happening. I thought it could've been the clutch being hot from the heat outside, but then the vibration got worse and the misfires got worse. The dealer did a crank relearn after the new clutch was installed.

I don’t know… but my engine doesn’t seem to shake out of balance. I only revved up to 4250 where the shaking starts. I mainly see it if you look near the throttle body.

I came to this fully expecting to see you bought a V8 sight unseen, only to open the hood when you get delivery to find a V6.

Sorry for the derail, do continue.

That would be funny to see 😅 I disabled two cylinders for better MPGs.
