Not by all means discriminating on the V8, but for me PERSONALLY whenever I had my V6 for a few months and then went on a test drive in a manual V8 with the car salesman, I did not really feel that too much of a difference to want to pay $5k more. Oddly enough, I closely related the torque power of the V8 to my V6. Under the hood, it's a whole different ballgame with the HP numbers and whatnot, but I just did not FEEL the difference... Maybe because it was a manual, but the car salesman was really good at shifting as his DD was a manual 370z.
I've driven all 3.. I could describe the feeling of the V8 vs the V6 as: Recall the feeling of the hardest pull you've ever done in your V6 then multiply that by 2 and add a ton of tire screeching sounds + tire smoke + fear of imminent death and instant boner..

That's how I'd describe a GT vs a V6.

I care about infotainment
I can only imagine how hard a saleman pushed that car! I'd bet a weeks pay he didn't take it over 4000RPMs.
For my first test drive of a GT w/PP the salesman drove it for the first 10 minutes before I got in the drivers seat and he definitely was going over 4k. We were on a long deadend street with no cars so he would just go back and forth at WOT. For a second I thought I was going to die because it was a relatively bumpy road and it was raining. I had never experienced a car that pulled that hard. Ended up being a ton of fun and really sold me on the car.

Well I think the underlined comment pretty much says it all.

I test drove the V6 but before I pulled the trigger I wanted to see what I would be missing with a GT. Walking away from the test drive on the V6 I thought wow that's a fun car I can see myself enjoying this for a long time, walking away from the GT I was trying to remember if I have ever laughed out loud before while driving a car. The difference is definitely tangible.

That said I can see why people buy the V6 and the Eco they are truly badass cars but I knew I would regret not going for the GT after the newness wore off.

Been lurking a while here, thought I'd throw in my opinion. I used to have a V6 Firebird, later got a Magnum with the 5.7, and drove a friend's Charger with a 3.5 while I still had that. No, those were not the V6s in the current Mustangs, but the power gap is similar, if not larger between the Mustangs. Also own a V6 truck and drive V8s at work. I can only say that I will never, ever, ever again buy a V6 version of a car with a V8 model. A V6 is fun, kind of peppy, still has the cool looks, but a V8 pulls hard from 1500-2000 and doesn't stop until well past 100 and sounds awesome the whole time. Not that I break the century mark often any more, but the V8 will rip from any sane speed. The only thing that could induce bigger smiles was my bike. Don't drive a GT if you're not prepared to buy one, and then, beware, it's very addicting to stab the gas at every opportunity.

thanks for the input guys.

Yea reason I asked was because I am looking to trade my 2015 V6 for a GT sometime early next year... maybe Feb/Mar...
I got the V6 earlier this year because I didn't have the $$$ for the GT and it was my first Mustang so I thought it would be fine. And honestly the V6 is a good car, quick enough, fun, good mpg, cheap...but the V8 bug did start to gnaw at me and wondered if I should have just saved up another year or so to get the GT.

So in a few months I'll have enough money to cover most of the negative equity I have in my current V6. I will just roll that over on a loan for a new bare-bones GT which I found some for $30-31k. Considering I can make a deal with Ford to buy my car for $18-$19k I could definitely get the GT.

it's all relative... I drove a GT and an ecoboost. I bought the ecoboost. My feeling was that the GT was obviously faster but not that much faster for any driving I could do on the street and not worth the extra 5K it would have cost. Everyone has a different cost/benefit ratio that they are willing to pay. A friend of mine has a 1000hp Supra that he runs on a mix of race gas and E85. It shoots flames out the tail pipe. Totally crazy. Not exactly a great DD but nobody screws with him, lol. When I need to go fast, I pick one of the bikes in the garage. I will have to admit, though, I almost bought the GT just for the sound. One of my favorite vehicles ever was my 99 Dakota R/T. Not much HP but lots of torque and 3.92 gears. Pretty entertaining.

"No self respecting red neck would be caught driving anything but a Mustang GT"

Pretty much some up the GT elitists who dog on the V6.

That V6 is the perfect mix of great power and good mpg. Perfect for a daily driver. Perfect for that rush hour commute in the rain when my GT is sitting in the garage since there's no reason to take it out in. Another thing Red Neck GT owners would bag on... as if I want 435 hp in the rain :)

Best mod there is for the Mustang GT, a 2004 Honda Civic for the dog days.

Whoa, wait, this could really sway my decision when I choose my next vehicle. GTs melt in the rain? Even my motorcycle never did that.

I don't understand people getting a model then upgrading to GT. You should have measured twice and cut once. So you didn't have enough for a GT, and now you have enough plus taking a couple thousand hit?

On a related note, I'm curious what the difference is in driving a 3.15 vs 3.55 axle car, whether its a V6 with the option or comparing a 3.15 V6 to a 3.55 V8. What does the higher axle ratio do for the driving feel?
