I felt the same way with my 2018 PP1 10R80. Then I threw on some R rated track tires and spent more time in Drag mode. The first time I went WOT from around 20 mph it took off smoothly as usual then when it hit the next gear it gripped and threw me forward like I was being shot out of a canon. I was used to the tires spinning a little and wasn't prepared for the grip and getting launched forward. Now i'm used to it but after that first time my neck hurt for days. Now that's with PP1, Roush coil overs, and Toyo R888R's but still. The HP is there...

its not 465 to the wheels, its about 400 to the wheels.. when you think of it that way its more then fast enough...

I just had a random dude stop by my work, poke his head into my office, and started talking to me about his 2018 PP1 GT. He saw my car parked out front, and decided to stop in and talk Mustangs.

We went outside to the parking lot, and talked Mustangs for awhile.

They are just not driving it properly. I can't even get out of 2nd gear without getting in trouble.

I've got rubber on the 4-5 shift at 94 mph in mine, and it's stock.

The power in these cars comes on so smooth and linear that you don't feel like its fast, but every time you race a comparable car you see how fast it is. Feelings are subjective, a high 11 second stock car is not slow...

Also keep in mind; those of us that do city driving have very few opportunities to wind the engine out past 4K RPM, where the car feels fast. A 6.2L Camaro or Corvette feels faster around town, no doubt. Hell, an EB Mustang would probably feel faster in stop and go traffic.

Those that live out where the driving is free and easy have a better time of it.

The throttle mapping in sport and track mode make the car feel much more responsive when compared to normal mode.

Put it in wet/snow mode and you'll see how dead and muted it can really feel.

I test drove a base GT and a Premium back to back and had the premium in Track mode and I honest to God thought the sales guy was messing with me and gave me a car with a blower on it.

The throttle just felt that different.

Personally, I think fooling yourself or getting fooled by over blown throttle mapping is not an advantage.

Other than the engine making its power at higher rpms than say the LS/LT, which seems to have been covered already, the car is bigger and heavier than previous Mustangs. So a 460hp Foxbody would eat its lunch in a straight line, because it would be ~700lbs lighter.

The biggest problem I see is people who don't want to shift or step on the throttle all the way who then complain that 40% throttle in 6th gear is slow. Yes, because at 2000 rpm, the car doesn't make anywhere near 460hp.

Just an observation, but the car just doesn't feel like it has 460hp. It just doesn't seem fast enough for the power rating. I almost wonder if they're a bit generous with the rating from the factory... Car is a 10 speed with 3.55's, I even run 94 octane.

I absolutely love the car, it just feels slower than it's rated for.

A honda fit feels faster around town than all of those.

157HP in 82, but same difference! I had a 71 Lincoln back then that used to waste all the 82-83 "performance" cars.

How so? The throttle mapping makes a big difference. If I give it 1/4 throttle in Normal or Wet mode its not 1/4 throttle.

In Sport and Track mode the throttle is mapped much more linearly meaning that 1/4 throttle is 1/4 throttle making the responsiveness feel better and making it feel faster given the same pedal input.

I think anyone that does mostly city driving would significantly benefit from a very steep gear ratio in the rear axle.

I do more city driving (very short commute) and ordered the 3.55's. It pulls hard city and highway.
