I 100 percent agree with you. It is funny that now that you can' t get a C8 Vette with a manual, they are paying top dollar for the manual C7s....throughout the years the autos far outsold the manuals. The things that make you go hmmmmmm

Looked at a Blue Z07 with the ceramic brakes carbon everything the other day and the dealer wanted 84k for a 2017 with almost 30k I LOL'd myself all the way home in my 20 PP1 that was had for well under 50k sticker last may @ 0% not a chance in hell I pay it off early either. Its literally free financing straight to Ford. I smile when that payments due.... Here ya go Ford thanks. LOL. Ill pay my 2.75% mortage before that car will be haha!

That 17 Z07 is 20k over what its worth IMO!

Used car markets batsh1t crazy but Vette even more so with the ADM and thin availability on C8s

It's simple really. People are willing to pay more for something they want that is hard to get.

explains marriage, too I guess. and the inevitable divorce? heh

hey, this thread was already wildly off-tangent...

Thing is the C8 could have come with a looks/feels like manual trans. H-pattern shifter (with sequential mode) and a clutch pedal. Ditto GT500. They would be comprised of force-feedback devices interfacing with a logic controller on the other end, and strictly speaking 'fake' but would have been nice...

'19 GT Convertible, loaded (A10/PP+MR/B&O/AE), paid $38K 2 years ago (which was a killer deal at the time, gently used for 4K miles, $59K MSRP), sold for $38K, listed for $44K

FWIW, '18 Durango RT, also loaded (AWD, Premium Audio, BlackTop, Tow), leased, purchased at the end of the lease, paid $30K, sold for $40K, listed for $44K

Both of these in the last few months.

Super simple transaction in both cases, 95% online (i.e., no people to deal with), the "time value" was outstanding, the only extra thing was floating the cash purchase at the end of lease (we did it specifically to resell, some weirdness about a 3rd party buying it within 30 days of the lease terminating ...).

Paid $35,900 for my 2017 GT Premium Performance Pack off a custom order in May of 2017, $44,370 MSRP. Sold to Vroom for $37,170. It's up for sale for $44,000 in Oklahoma last I saw with a damaged rear diffuser and missing a right exhaust tip. Somehow was damaged in transit sadly but not my problem. Absolute rip off even for how good of a condition I kept the car in.
How was your experience selling with Vroom? I backed out when I heard you don't get a check before they take your car.

Pretty good. Got paid a few days later with no fuss. Got a huge down payment ready for a Mach 1 now.

The Ram dealer near me has two 2021 TRXs that are “used” one with 30 miles the other with 802 miles. Both purchased at auction a few weeks ago. But the are both listed as $110k, but get a dealer discount down to $99k and $103k. The stickers were $73k and $82k. It’s ridiculous!

Not sure where folks are seeing sky-high valuations. Just for fun, I input my 2020 GT350 (650 miles on odo) into the edmunds site. I paid msrp last year. Valuation came back as 10k below that.

So even though I sold mine for $37,170 to Vroom. I put it back into Vroom for giggles today to see the value. $26,960 now. Market must be really saturated with used cars now and the fun is over with the trade in sites.

They're still trying to sell my 17 GT in Arkansas for it's MSRP in 2017 at $44k.

You guys think you have it tough with prices across the sea?

A USED mach 1 landed in the UK for guess how much?
£74,999.00
That's $101,000 for a Mach 1.

They came from the online services like Carvana and Vroom. Sites like Edmunds are just giving you book value. Right now that is meaningless.

I'm firmly in the camp of "not going to buy" right now or in the near future. But I'm also not selling anything, because I know I'll end up wanting to replace whatever it is if I do that. And prices seem too high to me. I'm just not going to pay those prices. I will live with an older vehicle for a while. Not that big of a deal.

Obviously none of us can predict the future, but we went really quickly from the best economy ever to the deepest hole of crap I can remember. And I'm not young. I don't see things getting much better for the next handful of years. Why would they? There's no one around planning to change the current policies.
