wow OySmallFry, the fastener is STRONG AS FUCK. I tried to break it from my trunk. I could not.

It's worrying how close my hand is to being crushed everytime (or getting the strap stuck), but damn.. it works. Thanks again.
Haha! Yes sir, I should have videotaped it when I was testing and tried to rip the thing off with all my force. It only put a groove in the fastener. I would not recommend repeatedly going super sayan on it, but I'm happy it works to everyone's needs!

hyperbole, of course. I did give it some good tugs downwards and it's solid.

I got mine. Which hole in the trunk is ideal?

Removing one of the struts on the trunk makes the strap closing method a lot more user friendly, FWIW

Yeah, personally i go with the top left hole. It's driver's side so it's convenient, and being the furthest from the trunk hinge it'll require the least arm effort. (Longer moment arm = more torque)

Just tried fitting one of these to my UK car today and the fixing doesn't fit.

I've only tried it in the top left hole as per the pics but it's too big for that location.

If I take out the centre part of the plastic fixing supplied with the strap, THAT just about fits into the hole, so trying to insert the entire fixing in there is a complete non-starter.

Not having a moan as it's a risk we have to take over here since we have to order almost everything Stateside, just thought you should know.

Have to hunt around for a slightly smaller fixing now, if you have any recommendations?

:)

My original DIY calls for a self tapping screw, you can put it wherever you want. Mine has worked flawlessly.

Wooo! Just upgraded to gold sponsor so I can post this!

If anyone wants these, both the trunk kits and RemoveBeforeFlight tags are now available!

To answer questions, I tried many more fastener options - plastic drywall anchors, bolts, other OEM style fasteners, china fasteners.. nothing worked as well as that first one. I tried to rip the pull loop off my trunk with ~90% full arm strength and it didn't even budge! And I'm not a small guy. I took the clip out and inspected it after - it created a groove in the plastic but no damage. I'm still using the very first clip I tried, after multiple installs, uninstalls, and trunk closings.

im not seeing our beloved Orange in there :( *hint* *hint*

Hey Centurion07, if you're using one of mine, shoot me a PM. There's an install guide on the SCS store thread, if you hadn't seen. That fastener is 2 pieces. You need to insert the bottom piece through the strap grommet and then into the trunk hole. It will fit easily and loosely. Then you insert the top fastener piece - it's going to be snug, that's by design. You'll be able to insert it about halfway with your thumb and then you'll need a rubber mallet to tap it in the rest of the way. I promise it works, I've installed a half dozen myself.

If you boned the fastener just let me know and I can send you a new one.

Edit: Check post #4

Delivery time

Can you tell me how long it takes to ship and receive the trunk strap? I ordered mine on 1/3/16 and haven't received it yet, nor have I received any communications on when it will ship or if it has shipped.
