Final update to the Whipple tuning saga... I finally bit the bullet and decided to try out Palm Beach Dyno and their tuning for my whipple car. Let me tell you, wow. What an awesome experience to have somebody work with you on you car as you try to fine tune it. Immediately, the car started 10x better and idled much better. Then after going through the back and forth process of refining the tune, the car is running like a top. It's great to see that all my install was correct, and that the whipple tune was my issue. I couldn't imagine having to go back stock, all because the tuning from whipple was horrendous. I don't know if the tune just didn't sync well with my specific car, but I would expect the customer service to be much better for the tuning side from whipple. Don't provide a tune to the customer to then just let them drown as they can't get their car running.

I am still disappointed that whipple never got back to me and never truly tried to help me fix the tune on the car. I think their service on the hardware side is amazing, but the software side is absolutely lackluster.

Would I recommend a whipple to anyone? Yes, with a caveat. Get the tuner kit from the get go, and then spec it out with either PBD or Lund to get the best set up for your wants. The kit is awesome, but the tuning needs to be done by someone else.

Ditch that Whipple tune ASAP and get yourself a custom tune from a reputable tuner. There are several good tuning companies out there.

Used to be able to call Whipple and get someone on the line like Dustin
now its a whole ordeal with emails and ticket numbers..
Palmbeach is top notch,I was unaware that he or anyone was able to go into a whipple software and
adjust it . I have my Whipple 5 years and no issues but im thinking of doing a cat delete and a retune
I may have to try him

Some comments. I installed the Whipple myself on the '19 Bullitt. Used Whipple's Tomahawk tuner and Whipple's tune. Now this was last year mind you. I found them very attentive and the tune was just excellent.

However, the serpentine belt included by Whipple would not fit. I tried everything and finally got it on so tight it was ridiculous. Took me hours because the Whipple tech guy INSISTED it would fit. They were simply wrong. I told them I had a Bullitt and it might be different than a GT. They inisisted I was wrong. Anyway, I determined the belt was 2 inches too short. I called a local parts store and got one 2" longer and that was very hard to get on. I have done several SC setups. Whipple was wrong but refused to believe it. So, I like Whipple, but I think they get the quality, intelligent, attention to detail folks mixed up with the hacks.

Glad your car is running good. I am thinking someone at Whipple sent you the wrong tune.

It's crazy, most people claim the whipple tune is the best in the business. But some claim they blow up motors. ???

This is a mystery to me. I’ve heard (2nd hand in every case) about all the motors blown by the Whipple cal. I’ve been running Whipple cals since 2015 and logged them countless times. I’ve evaluated the logs and looked at the programming myself and everything looks ok and has always been within safe bounds (spark, fuel, and cam timing). I really wish I knew more about these blown motors.

I can't say enough how much better this PBD custom tune is. Speed, drive-ability, the way the power comes on, the fuel mileage, and more. Now I wish I hadn't wasted the money on hoping the whipple tune was going to be good. Ah well, lessons learned.

Also, he did not adjust the tune, it was a full custom tune

I have the whipple tune 4 years plus and no issues ,read the OP it was about support mainly
Honestly, it's both the tune and the customer support. If the tune wasn't bad in the first place, I wouldn't have had this experience with Whipple. The icing on the cake was the absolute terrible customer service that came with the tuning issue.

Wow this is scaring me from purchasing a whipple now. I was inquiring about installing a whipple in my 2015 gt premium with 75000 miles on it. Maybe I should just a Lune tune and JLT CAI and be happy.

Don't let this thread scare you off from buying a Whipple. I installed mine last month and so far it's been great in terms of diveability with the canned tune. I've called Whipple at least a half a dozen times. A few times I called the tune guy and got great customer service from him. Dennis, the Mustang platform tech service dept guy has been extremely helpful as well.

I do believe that Whipple can't tweak their tunes all that much, since the tunes are California smog approved and any major changes would jeopardize their C.A.R.B approval. Maybe I'm wrong, but just giving my opinion. If you aren't concerned with the smog certification and want more than the canned tune will give, go with an aftermarket tune.

I just installed my Stage 2 Whipple a couple of weeks ago and as of today have almost a thousand miles on it with the Whipple tune. I don't like the popping but I must say the first and only tune is to me like stock as far as driveability. I took it on a four hour road trip twice now. I called Whipple once with a question and got the answer to my question right away don't know if I was lucky or not.
I will be putting on the long tubes I have and getting a custom tune but right now i'm all smiles and giggles.

Did you have to get new injectors for the PBD tune or were you able to use the 72s from the kit?

Sorry to hear of your problems. I have had nothing but good experiences with Whipple customer service after install. I started with stage 1 and upgraded to stage 2. I have had questions answered about headers, exhaust, catch cans and tunes. I have always received a reply in emails and in personal phone calls from Jeff Tiller and Dustin Whipple. They have even upgraded my injectors to match a new tune for no charge. This was just my experience. I am sorry for your bad experience.
