And this is exactly the reason why the lower grill is so confusing. If it's hiding the ACC sensor, then why is it on the LE.

I guess it could be seen as a more traditional lower grill treatment and thus they went with that one regardless of the actual need to use it.

The 50th anniversary package gives you the same lower grill regardless if you get ACC with it or not (as well as the V6, which doesn't have ACC as an option). Some people suggest, and I agree, that it is used on the 50th package and LE because it compliments the corral upper grill better than any of the other grills. It would look weird to have the fang lower grill but the corral upper. Same goes for the honeycomb that the EB uses.

It matches the upper grille element better than having two arbitrarily placed lower fangs. The best pairing would be the GT lower grille mesh sans fangs so that the honey comb is consistent in both openings, but that would require a separate part to be manufactured.

I personally like the look of that lower grill better myself, so I'm fine with it.

There's totally a reason for excluding them -- both the rear sensors and the ACC sensor interrupt the aesthetics of the car. Those spot-sensors on the rear bumpers of cars look chinzy, and although Ford has done a comparatively good job of hiding the ACC sensor in the lower grille, they obviously wanted to maintain the purer look they'd designed with the proper lower grille for the LE.

To the guy feeling cheated Ford never announced the LE as a Fully Equipped GT....so your Assumption lead to your disappointment....you probably think the HP was going to be 450+

I don't think it confirms anything yet about that lower grille unless it actually shows up in the builder... Even the GT fanged lower grill has the same blocked out edges but the honeycomb pattern obscures it making it less visible. Could it be possible that the PP and or base GT have anything to do with the lower grille? It totally makes sense using the straightline lower grille because it actually compliments the 50th appearance package on all models

i feel like you're right on this too the straight line across would match the straight line in the corral grill and also i happened to get the vin # for the s550 at mustang week which was a DIB Gt with 50 appearance package i didn't look at the wheel but it said on cotus no ACC while mine on order has ACC and no 50 years package so i feel it'll be fangs regardless of if you have ACC or not. it all depends on if you have 50 years package

Except this picture posted earlier in the thread throws a wrench in that theory. This is a GT Premium convertible without the 50th AP.

Now I suppose it's conceivable that the convertibles get a different grill regardless, but seems more likely that it's an ACC/no ACC thing.

thats confusing to me to but is there a vin number for this car that would probably help with a bit of the confusion by answering a when the car was built and what not. i wish this wasn't so tough to figure out :frusty:

Well, since I originally started this thread, I'll comment again, as to why the Cars with ACC Will Not Have Either the Wavy Honeycomb or Fanged Lower Grill, Regardless of whether they Both have Blocked Off Sections at either end. The Reason they have Blocked Sections is for Aerodynamics and Optimal Airflow to the Radiator. The cars with ACC however cannot use these Pieces because the way the system works is it Sends and Receives Radar/Sonar Waves to Measure Distance between Your Car and the Car in Front of You. The Wavy Honeycomb and Fanged Honeycomb GT Lower Grills have Too Many Nooks and Crannies for those Waves to Get Lost In when Bouncing Back to the System, which is Why Ive said from the Beginning that the Straight Line Lower Grill from the LE With it's Smooth Flat Ends is the Grill used for the Adaptive Cruise Control.

I tried playing around with the builder... the only thing that changed it was the appearance package, it did not change it for the gt premium which was the only thing you can use to get the acc... lower grill remained the same however reverse park assist did show those sensors on the rear bumper

While that's true, I can't think of any examples of recent pre-production cars that weren't representative of the official option packages. If there has been something I'm forgetting about, feel free to remind me.

Only one way to solve that million dollar question is for Ford to answer it then hopefully it will end this ongoing thread
