Hey Pakman,

In regards to the Adaptive Cruise Control + Collision Mitigation (Option code 52S) will not alter the appearance. It’s designed to hide any additional pieces/parts behind the bumper.

Just in case. For the inquiring minds out there, this cannot be added onto the vehicle after it is built.

Have a great day! :D

Tricia
Earlier I wondered why it would not be hidden in the bumper, I wouldn't think there would be any extra difficulty in assembly. It's great to hear that's how it's done.

Despite Tricia's Reply, I still stand by my initial post and observation. Personally I believe the Lower Grill with the Horizontal Bar and Blanked Off Ends like the one on the 50th Limited Edition is the Lower Grill for the Adaptive Cruise Control. I may be wrong but that is what I Believe.
I somewhat agree, (despite my own response just now lol) in that I would like to hear a good explanation of what those ugly black boxes are, if not for the ACC.

Subscribing....I'm kind of glad convertibles are delayed so I am forced to wait to order, and hopefully get more details on things like this! I want ACC, pretty positive I'll get it no matter what, but this whole grill thing may sway my decision on getting the 50th package or not. I prefer the fangs lower grill, but the 50th package appears to have the blank lower grill. It looks cheap to me. If I have to live with the blank grill no matter what since I want ACC, I may go with the 50th package after all.

If you look on the configurator website, that appears to be the V6 lower grille.

Tricia has no dog in this fight, and I would think that she researched her answer before posting here.

Also on the configurator site, it doesn't change the lower grill if you add ACC without the 50th package, which is encouraging but from all the photos we've seen flying around doesn't really mesh up with reality. I don't wee why they can't put the sensor behind the fang and honeycomb grills? Sure you might see it a little...but it would look much better than the ugly V6/50th grill...IMO

from what I heard all the sensors whether they are adaptive cruise control, reverse park assist and the bliss w/ cross traffic alert are all hidden discreetly behind the bumpers as it was also explained at the auto show. the different grill designs quite simply would be of the different vehicles you ordered being a V6 the lowers might be blanked out but with the ecoboost there is an active grille system that adjust with speed either opening or closing allowing for a better aerodynamic profile which also increases mpg. the gt base will probably have a separate grill from the gt premiums which also differentiates the different models much like the rear diffuser. The 50th anniversary edition as it also states will have unique design cues whether it is the front or back and a few on the inside

Negative on the reverse sensors, they can be seen here in this pic...barely..

So what if it is the little dots on the bumpers..... discreet enough but I did not get that package for the reverse sensors however they may still be used for the bliss and crosstraffic

You would think they would have somehow bundled the BLISS/Crosstraffic/ACC all together in one package..

BLIS has it's sensors in the rear fenders (from what I've read), which is odd that those don't require any "dots" since it is going through metal.

I think it is odd that reverse sensing and BLIS aren't bundled at least. In my Fusion I believe BLIS was bundled with a premium package that included rain sensing wipers & rear camera (among other stuff). They didn't offer ACC in 2011.

Yeah but really I don't need the reverse sending or adaptive cruise control or even the collision mitigation either, it's better to trust your instincts than to rely on some technology because outright that is what makes you a better driver, rear camera is enough and sifficient enough as far as parking.. I don't do very much true parallel parking to even worry about that. the cruise control part is nice to have but not necessary over the standard one, sometimes traffic is bad enough to where you won't use that much of it anyways so it gives a better option as far as price... even the nav... phone already does a damn fine job of it anyways

I guess I was hoping they'd bundle all those features together and let some of us actually buy the Shaker Pro w/out a bunch of other things added to it that I don't need (or get w/Recaro's...)

I drove a car several years ago, maybe a gm or something that had the collisiin warning or their rendition of bliss... man that thing went off all the time in traffic with cars on either side.. was annoying but sure it will or has been improved since then. It had a light in the mirrors with a tone in the cabin

My Fusion doesn't have any tones for blind spot, just the lights in the mirrors, which I don't find annoying at all. Cross traffic beeps but it works very well and has saved my ass in parking lots a couple of times (literally!) Reverse sensors I could see being annoying sometimes, but I have also come to rely on them (along with the camera)...which gets me in trouble when I drive a car that doesn't have them  Cross-traffic, reverse sensors, and camera of course all are only active when in reverse, and can be turned off with one button on the steering wheel (which I do when I tow my little trailer or have my bike rack on)

The tone going off was annoying... not the mirror warnings...even though it was a subtle sound it did get annoying hearing it every time a car was in either lane next to me
