It’s not plug and play and Ultimately it will have a very low adaption rate.

They've since made adaptions to their offering with specific pwm controllers for various makes/models. There's a bunch of different kit/part numbers now based off application.

I've seen that.

Until they offer a plug and play kit with ford oem connectors like a vmp pump booster, I think people will be reluctant to adopt.

Looks like a good pump and set up, just more then most are willing to mess with.

Like most things fuel component related, it must be taken with a grain of salt.

First, DW is just like every other manufacturer and they quote HP numbers based off Naturally Aspirated gasoline ratings. Add E85 and now you must pump 30% (approximately) more to reach the same power level. Like most people, in order to reach those types of output, it'll also involve a turbo or a blower, both of which add more adjustment required (because of parasitic losses, in order to make 1200 hp, the motor is actually consuming more than that to operate the power adder).

Furthermore, it's at 40 psi, so again, the flow rate at 75 or 80 psi (where a typical blower/turbo car would need to operate given 55 base psi + 20-20 lbs of boost to fight against at the injector), it's probably gonna flow like 550, maybe even 500.

For perspective, the pump curve for the 440 drops to 375 l/h at a reasonable design pressure for max hp (75-80 psi).

Now, the good news about DW stuff is it's usually pretty robust. You can see their voltage booster is made to operate CONTINUOUS at 22v, that's pretty insane. Most other pumps can't handle anything close to that, most of them tap out intermittent at at 20v. That means if you need more flow, you can boost the hell out of this one pump.

The other thing I'm seeing is that it most likely won't fit in typical OEM fuel baskets. It'll have to be run inline (which requires a cell with a pickup or some sorta modified pickup for your OE tank or it'll just be a surge tank application). The thing that's amazing about the 440 is it's small enough to fit in OE buckets. This to me looks like a direct competitor to the L5M or Veyron brushless (that's too long to fit in most OE buckets).

This is part of my build/fuel system plan. I've decided to use the pwm controller (in conjunction with another pwm source). You should speak with Dakota and DW if you have any questions, they're very helpful.

The power wiring doesn't need to be 4 wire all the way to the pump (the 4th can be direct ground).

The 440's have a 42mm casing (opposed to a typical 39mm case for most 500 type pumps (267,274,285,295, etc) so you should factor that in (it's a little bit fatter). I have no idea if that will work with the OEM hanger provisions but it will NOT work with the current DW hanger (which has provisions for a 46mm case and then an insert for a 39mm case, but I suppose you could fab or source an interim size spacer to make it work or see if DW has created something). I don't think most of the other fuel hats on the market (divison X, etc) will work without some sort of customization. I chose to get the Radium hat for it's pump mounting flexibility (and other provisions at the top with electrical connectors).

The 440 instructions are pretty detailed and they give you most everything you need to modify your OEM hat, but someone would have to verify it will fit in the OEM hat (diameter). The venturi nozzle comes plugged so you can drill it if you want to use it or you can leave it plugged if you want to tap off the main feed or the return line to push the jet syphons.
What is your PWM source?

Bump . Anyone install one yet on a S550? Not much info I could find on it searching the interwebs mustang wise.
Wondering how the performance and reliability are on it as well as how hard it is to wire up to the mustang . I looked it up on DW website but the instructions are vague. 9-442-C103-0906 was the one I was looking at with PWM
