Having front and rear is a better option in my mind. If you get the rear camera, use 3M tape and toss what it comes with. On a hot day the oem tape leaves the cam hanging.

The slow boat from China finally arrived.

Install of the unit itself was pretty easy. About 10 mins. Removing the old clips was the biggest hassle. Connecting the camera to the app took some trial and error as the instructions were pretty lacking. But it's up and running. Haven't driven it yet, but I love how clean and minimal it looks. 99% of people would think it's OEM.

Connecting the unit to download video or images is a little tedious, since you have to be in the car with it on, but for $214 shipped, it seems to be a bargan for what it is.

Side note - does anyone with this Fitcamx know if you can pull the memory card and easily download that way? There are no instructions what so ever on using the memory card. 🤦‍♂️

Very clean and factory looking. Does it start recording the moment the ignition is turned on?

I have a simple camera setup in my car that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Cons:

- I find it very annoying that it automatically turns on whenever I press the ignition button. I’d rather turn it on when I want to use it, rather than have it turn itself on. To avoid this, I keep it unplugged until I’m ready to use it.

- Here’s a test recording to show the camera’s clarity. Something I noticed during this test recording was, playing the stereo completely overwhelmed the microphone and the playback shows how distorted things sounded.

Pros:

- Clairity is good.
- Downloading is simple I that all I have to do is connect a transfer cord from the camera to my laptop.

I was wondering if most other camera systems record automatically and have distortion issues when playing back the footage if the stereo is playing in the background?

Yes, it turns on automatically when the car is on. I believe they all do. But mine has a button on the side that turns it off if you don't want to use it.

Also, there is an option on the app to record with or without sound.

Oh okay, thanks. Mine also has a button to turn it off as well. I’ll have to reread the instructions to see if I can disable the sound when recording.

I discovered there are actually multiple sound settings today. Had to turn mine to low as the driver commentary is very colorful lol. 🤣

I just picked up a Viofo A129 Pro Duo thanks to your helpful info. I ordered the parking mode harness and a couple of CPL filters as well as a second GPS mount so I can move the forward facing cam to my other car when I store my Mustang for the winter. That stuff won't be here for a week or two. C'mon spring. Too cold in the garage to install anything right now.
Glad I could help sir.

And what's this "too cold?" Asking as a guy that got his Bullitt on winters right now. :)
I jest. It is a PITA to work in the confined space in the cold.

Funnily enough, my GPS mount stopped working, but it still charges, plus I got front tint, so I'm not looking to mess that up by trying to dismount my mount anyway.
It is a good cam setup.

I'm going to look into better rear cam that would be compatible with the current, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

What makes you want to find a better rear camera? From what I've seen the rear camera does a very good job. Does Viofo even make an upgrade?

I don't think it does. I just always want to have as good of a resolution as I can when it comes to safety etc.
