Not loving that the Fitcamx comes from China. Hopefully it gets here in the next month. 🙄

I'll go snap a couple of pics for you in my Bullitt right now. :)
Here's how it looks from my view, basically hidden out of view for me, which I like:

20240211_131705.jpg

View from passenger seat - and I didn't put it up on that blacked out part in fear of the glue (upon removing the mount) pulling off some of that black stuff. It might not, but wasn't worth the risk for me.
Bullitts don't come with the advanced safety features, so I ain't got much up there. On a GT with those features the windshield gadgets will take up more space.
I also have light windshield tint.
It mounts just below the dotted black thing and sits right next to the mount for the mirror:

In this picture the green section is ran behind the weather strip after removing it and fishing the kit through. The red portion is just tucked behind headliner:

Lastly - if you don't need parking mode (i.e. hardwire kit from fuse box) and only want power on with ignotion, there's mounts/adapters for rearview autodimming harness - you buy this, plug your mirror into it and you gain a USB plug right at the ceiling, which allows you to plug a dash cam in.
It's used frequently for radar detectors too I think:

If you want parking mode, you have to go to the fusebox.

Thanks so much! This is great. I have the same mirror as you. I like how the cam is hidden from view. I think if it were mounted higher, you would see part of the screen above the mirror. Can the mirror move enough to have access to the screen or do you just do that from the passenger side? How often do you need to use the screen?

I think the intelligent parking mode features of the A129 are very useful, so I highly recommend getting their HK3 wiring kit and going to the fusebox.

My front camera mounts just to the right of the big mirror base (for the adaptive cruise and lane keeping stuff). I'm tall, so I need my camera up above my FOV.

You bet, just paying it forward. :)

Yeah, you can move the mirror quite well, doesn't interfere. I do have to move the mirror to get the camera dismounted and remove the cam to review footage (i.e. to pull out the SD card).
This is not ideal, but it's due to my choice of the way I ran the wires. I try to remove power before removing the SD card, I don't want any footage corrupted.
And the other reason why the cam is harder to remove is I have a little felt pad that comes with the camera on it so it doesn't rattle. You can't hear it yourself, but when reviewing footage, you can hear rattle from the mic since it's so close.

In the end, long story short, no interference and I look at the screen maybe 1x a week making sure it's recording? No reason to look at it past that once you have everything set up.
I have muscle memory to know where to press to save the footage.

Yeah parking mode is good, I have it enabled too. I think your mount location ends up being similar to mine anyway despite all the sensors.
Yeah I def don't want part of the screen visible. I'm 6'3" and from that angle I can't see it, which I like.

I like Ring products. My wife used to work for them and we would get tons of test products.

That car cam however lookes like ass. No thank you.
What about it looks like ass, you mean the picture or the actual camera sticking out of the dash?

I also use the BlackVue. 900x Plus.

i have front and rear and their web portal isn’t too bad. Only thing I don’t like is that the timer / battery saver is tricky to work with. But once dialed in set and forget.

I’ve been thinking of getting the dash cam battery for it as well as the LTE module so that I can track the car in real time but not convinced it’s worth it since you just cut the power wire and it becomes tits on a bull.

FYI. My shipping was delayed until I could confirm to their customer rep that is was really for sure, no mistake, the Mustang Coupe version that I had planned to order, and not the Mach-E Crossover version. They even wanted me to send them a picture of my mirror. I sent them a random one from the internet.

According to their tracking it's in LA now.

I just picked up a Viofo A129 Pro Duo thanks to your helpful info. I ordered the parking mode harness and a couple of CPL filters as well as a second GPS mount so I can move the forward facing cam to my other car when I store my Mustang for the winter. That stuff won't be here for a week or two. C'mon spring. Too cold in the garage to install anything right now.

Best dash cam solution for us 2015-2017 base models? I want something that runs off a tap in the car so I don’t have to worry about a 🔋, is small enough so it can be behind mirror or something and be out of way, and I only really need front.
I am trying out the Dongar harness that taps in to the rear view mirror wiring. The harness showed up today only for me to realize I ordered the wrong one. I just ordered the correct one and will hopefully have it next week. I’m pairing it with a Garmin mini 2 camera. I was using it in my last Mustang. Oddly enough it’s the same camera Dongar sells to pair with the harness.
