D1x first Pass 1/8mile

Made my first 1/8 hit friday evening… setup is
D1x 4” pulley 18psi
A10 circle D
Fore tripple pumps
PBD tune
Car ran faster than i was looking for but broke a Axle on the topend… DSS 2000hp axles… Not real sure what happed so im going to Take it tommorow to Drive shaft shop and see what they say…

Losing an axle at 120 sounds scary. Gotta assumed there was some sort of manufacturing flaw with that axle?

When gear were you in when it broke? Seems common for 10r80 cars to break axles on the 1-2 and sometimes 2-3.

Right as it clicked 7th I believe…. right as i rolled thru the Traps 120mph

Why in the wide, wide world of sports are all of these DSS half shafts breaking? I would think a 2000 HP set of axles would be indestructible. As far as I know, those are the highest hp rated axles on the market; aren’t they? It almost seems pointless to replace the factory axles when you read about these HD axles snapping just as easily.

it could have been 6th i will watch the video and count the shifts.. 3.55 gear

It broke going into 6th… watching the video i aint sure if it made it to the 1/8 before it broke

Half shafts were high on my parts list too. I reached out to BlowByRacing regarding the Shaftmasters DS for my 2019 Bullitt and to my surprise, they told me that Shaftmasters no longer builds driveshafts for Mustangs. They went on to suggest a DSS driveshaft. TBH, I’m not only afraid to take a chance on that, I also don‘t care for the design of rear portion of the shaft that bolts to the differential.
