My favorite Ford dealer will sell me a 2014 V-6 w/performance package, which I absolutely adore - for about $21K after the rebates. And affordability and cost is very important to me. I probably can't afford one now anyway.

But the new ones are coming out. And I'm a "latest thing" kind of guy. And oh, by the way, I love the look of the new ones and the interiors and everything. But they're going to cost a lot more, I think, won't they?

Does it make any sense to buy a 2014 when the new ones are coming out?

NO, if you call your self a "latest thing" kind of guy. You will not be happy with 2014. You have to pay a little extra for New and the Latest. 2015 will cost bit more. Maybe not as much discount/incentive as the 2014, but the price shouldn't increase by much. You won't be able to get a V6 with PP though.. go for the Ecoboost?

Oooo, $23K for a new, base GT, wow. Ingot Silver? Tan cloth?

I'm going to ask my salesman about that.

If you're on a budget it's hard to say no to that. 24K for a 420 hp Mustang? Damn. A fricking Civic Si will cost you more.

Provide links please. :)
I went to get the link and they changed the price after month-end LOL. I just looked at it last Friday. They must have been pushing for a month-end incentive. I bought my first 5.0 from here they operate on turnover. Sticker on my first one was 38.5, I bought it for 32.9.

Basically its a DIB Base GT auto. Sticker is 31.5, they were asking $26,500 internet price, then Ford had $2000 cash incentive (now reduced to 1000 after 3/31) so would have been 24.5k. Another guy on another forum just picked one up for the same price in Atlanta, but he flew to get it from Cali.

The base models that are left are few and far between but dealers want to dump them, its just about finding the right dealer.

If you're a latest things kinda guy, you'll jump a full decade (platform wise) by waiting a few more months.

I've seen used 5.0s with reasonable miles going for 20k these days. Mustang depreciation is historically horrendous - like among the worst you can find. And it's because they sell so many that the used car market gets flooded with them.

If you're looking to save a few grand, wait a year after the S550 gets built before you start shopping for one.

Yeah id advise against buying a new mustang unless it's a limited edition ie Shelby or boss. The first year or two depreciation is brutal due to all the rental ones going to auction. My 2013 GT had a sticker of 39k I bought it for 31k and a year later the kbb value was 26k. Part of that is due to being the end of the body style but still..

If you really want this body style go find a slightly used GT for low-mid 20s.

Where I live my 2013 increased 3% (kbb) in value since jan 2014..that is quite a jump. I attribute that to low amounts sold around here. Zip code fluctuations are very common. My sticker was 39.7k and I got it for 31.6k back in feb of 2013.

Here 2013 GT's are around 120K, and we are hoping that 2015 will be around 55K.

Ive been temped as well just went out to the dealership last week and found a 2014 V6 performance package with Navigation and the extended warranty with my xplan for 28K. Since i am in love with the new body style i am willing to wait for a Ecoboost PP with Navigation and Driving modes for road conditions.
