Probably because there’s enough virus going around in the US right now, combined with a shit-tonne of magical thinking...
You could look at other countries, where people actually take this shit seriously, to get a better picture of it.
There’s almost no point in looking at the data from a nation where people were actively holding “Covid parties” and then trying to work out why things are trash.
The majority of the rest of the world is looking at America as evidence of how NOT to do it.
As much as we might not like some of the policies implemented here in Australia, we look at you guys and say a resounding “no thanks, we‘ll just keep doing what we’re doing”.

Its obvious that they weren't otherwise there wouldn't be an increase in cases. That is the point of scientific extermination, they are situations that can be replicated. And the experiments show that wearing masks and social distancing prevents COVID.

Yep, I know nothing except when they "first" reported the size of the virus it was said to be .1 micron in size. The N95 mask only filters down to .3 micron. That cloth bandana is like truing to filter cigarette smoke with a window screen.

Vaccine, I know 6 people who have got it and all of them ended up sick as a dog for a few days. Not me.

Cant see myself having any incentive to get it, young healthy, with zero fears of it. If I was older and immune compromisation id say why not. but honestly I already had it and I had a snivel. my room mates had it and had a cough. we are in 20s and I am 30.

so imo, even if I get it 10 times, it isn't worth vaccinating, imo I will build my own immunity. I recommend bodies natural defenses if you aren't compromised/sickly

Yeah I mean like its not like the spike in cases don't correlate with the spike in cases that happen every year from the flu, and now that there's a new 'flu like' virus going around there is a similar spike. So stupid right? Its almost like when people gather together in masses they can get it? I'm only making myself look foolish to the people who lack critical thinking which is fine with me

Why don't you read up on some scientific data that is based on facts instead of just blindly following someone. Opinions aren't science so why would I care? They are just like assholes, everyone has one.

Okay so is that it? So what is the "magically bigger size? 1.6 micron? Viruses mutate quickly which is why there are different strains. There are already different types that are around but it isn't genetically distinct to call it officially a new strain

Who said they were “ineffective”? I seem to recall all the hospital staff wearing them...
I also seem to recall that there was a shortage of masks at one point. I wonder if certain governments were trying to preserve what very little PPE they had available, for those who would be treating people with the virus on a daily basis?
Its almost as if you don’t realise that a virus can mutate, or that science can change its mind when new evidence comes to light.
You‘re right, scientists should be more like you, unable to change their mind as new evidence comes to hand. That would be great.
It’s also intriguing that you think the peak body somehow changed their stance on masks.
