In this particular instance, it has changed. Active military members are not "currently" forced to take the vaccine. Now there are jobs that if you want to stay in that particular job, then you will have to take it.
Have you ever been in? Just curious lol.

I know that when you are in, pretty much all of your rights all go away and you have no say. It was a big surprise to me.

I knew this thread had the potential to have a lot of disagreement. I am waiting on a doctor to chime in soon :) oh wait, we don't need to hear from a doctor because our friend Bubba will tell us it is either safe or it is not.....and you know we don't question Bubba. :)

Lol just give it another 5 more years and then I'll be the go to doctor for these kinds of questions :)

Why do you say that it is not FDA approved? In December, I thought that was the whole point of the vote that they did; to approve the vaccine. I remember it being a big deal with the commission or whatever it was.

And the interesting that you say that. Not familiar with the laws and regulations of hospital workers, and what the rules are in Kentucky (I'm assuming you live there) but my friend who works at a Hospital in California is required to get the shot and the flu shot. So that is interesting.

Could it be because Kentucky is a red state? Don't know just a guess. My friend does live in a red part of California though.

My school required the flu shot and the basic vaccines like measles before the pandemic. Pretty sure that they'll required the vaccine.
This explains it better than I can: The EUA process is different than an FDA approval or clearance. Under an EUA, in an emergency, the FDA makes a product available to the public based on the best available evidence, without waiting for all the evidence that would be needed for FDA approval or clearance.

When evaluating an EUA, we carefully balance the potential risks and benefits of the products based on the data currently available.

EUAs are effective until the emergency declaration ends. EUAs can also be revised or revoked by the FDA at any time as we continue to evaluate the available data. From this link.

I do live in KY. I don't know if it's a regulation thing or what to be quite honest. KY is red, but I'm in one of the few blue areas, so completely opposite of your friend lol. I don't think that has anything to do with it personally, but I could be wrong.

As far as requiring it for school, I'm honestly unsure what'll happen. I'm sure it'll play out soon.

The efficacy papers indicated that they both had ~95% vaccine efficacy. The data is pretty solid so I don't really know what discrepancies you see.
the 95% claimed is so flimsy it holds less water than tissue paper. The Israelies have the data that says it's at best 50%.

technically, its optional. But you know how things like that seem to go.
its "highly recommended" by leadership. lol
So it's verbal coercion. "it's only a suggestion but remember who's making the suggestion". I had a response every time someone ran that line by me. It was a single-digit solute. I didn't give a damn what rank was on their shoulders. In some respects it's a wonder I lasted 4 years at all.

we shall see how it goes.

from what ive seen it doesnt seem that leadership has been pushing it on to people or anything. They just recommend it. Time will tell if that changes.

leaderships recommendations had nothing to do with me getting the vaccine, FWIW. I was going to get it regardless, my own personal mandatory situation just gave me more reason to get it done quickly.

Okay I see. I wonder if since its under EUA if FDA continues to collect data and approve it at some point.

Do you know if the upcoming Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be EUA as well?

Hmm interesting. Yeah I dont know. There will be a lot debate about 'vaccines rights' in the upcoming months. It was an issue before with the measles and it'll be a clusterfuck for sure with COVID

Where he is going, the leadership is not "pushing it". This is a different situation from let's say anthrax, where it was mandatory if you were going to be in certain places.

Their data says its 50% effective after the first dose. After the second dose it will go up to the ~95% like in the study.

So is the survival rate still over 99% or no?

Is the Army still not doing PT tests? I saw something a few months ago that they were canceled until 2022 or something like that. Pretty crazy lol. I wonder how that is being handled.

The test has changed and is being evaluated; however, tests are still being administered but no negative consequences should you fail. With that in mind, the new test exhibited an extremely high failure rate from past "studs" if you know what I mean. Oh and PT is still being conducted.
