You can LOL all you like. Fact of the matter is, if there were a manual available for the C8, I would have one in my garage right now.

I'm clearly not the only one who wants a manual in the C8, so I would suggest the interest is there.

I don't care if a DCT can shift in 0.0000002 seconds, I care if *I* can shift in a second and a half.
Buy a C7. The C8 was designed around optimizing performance and a manual would take it in the other direction. Chevy can sell all the C8's they make so they really aren't too concerned about the few people who won't buy one without a manual. Time marches on. Even the bike manufacturers are headed that way with most having an auto clutch. But, I'm still riding 2-stroke bikes from the 80's.

Probably competitively priced against euro supercars 😆 Anyone look up the projected price tag yet? Probably slightly pricier than the 35th anniversary triple white i owned once upon a time 🙃 Really nice though. Like others have said, bring back a manual option por favor 💪🏻

#1. Based on the ZR1 estimates

1LZ Coupe MSRP $174,995
3LZ Coupe MSRP $185,995
The ZR1 Carbon Fiber Aero Package MSRP of $8,495
The ZTK Performance Package MSRP of $1,500

So a ZR1 is between $184,990 & $195990. That's without ADM. So figure 10% up for the ZR1-X so figure $205,000 and $216,000 with ADM.

#2. Please, give it up already. Anyone who knows anything about the C8 knows that a manual will never happen. GM has nothing that could possibly fit. Nor do they have any interest in building one. That ship has long, long sailed.

I drive a manual. Love it.

Dealership told me 1 out of 10 mustangs are manual and if there isn't one available the rate of "ok cool I'll just take an automatic versus trying to order/find a manual" is through the roof

I also work on a college campus and some kids came up to see the Mach and said "too bad it's a manual"

It's dead and they don't sell.

I'm trying to scoop up as many as I can but billion dollar companies are here to make money. Till they figure a way to give it a niche vinyl loving style comeback, people don't buy a sports car with an automatic or a way to make it not lose money. Days are numbered. Period.

I’d wager you might be on the low side, Ira. I would guess closer to a $40-$50K gap between ZR1 and ZR1-X. Gotta be enough separation so the ZR1 people don’t get too pissed that Chevy released the X so close to the launch of ZR1. Maybe I’m wrong there, will be interesting to see.

Still a bargain for the expected performance, IMO.

GM's got a glut of C8's right now

Cars are all beginning to look alike. Not a Chevy fan, and don’t care for mid-engine cars. No car company is perfect, but I’ll stay with Ford especially when it comes to sports cars.

Good idea. Except Ford doesn’t make a “sports” car. The Mustang is many things, but it has never really been a sports car.

Ford seems to think it does. From an email I got the other day....

People say that, but the reality is that a very small percentage of the sales of any car with an available manual, actually sell with a manual transmission. Hell, even VW got rid of the manual for 2025 models for both the GTI and Golf R (which seems insane to me)
50% of S550 Mustang GTs have manual transmissions.

Not enough interest, that’s pretty clear. Why do you think manuals are fading? Demand continues to decline, sales figures show that pretty clearly.
S650 manual sales are 27%. Still a ton.

Buy a C7. The C8 was designed around optimizing performance and a manual would take it in the other direction. Chevy can sell all the C8's they make so they really aren't too concerned about the few people who won't buy one without a manual. Time marches on. The C7 is a good alternative to a C8. However, GM didn't do the greatest job on the C7 manual transmission. 7 speeds is too many for a light car with a big engine. 6 is plenty, and it makes it a lot easier to find the correct gear. I don't really like the C7 manual transmission. I also drove a GS with less than 7,000 miles a few weeks ago. They are rattle traps. This car was absolutely beautiful, but not enjoyable at all to drive except on the smoothest of pavement.

I disagree with the argument that the percentage of adopters is too low for companies to make a manual transmission. What % of Corvette buyers will purchase the ZR1 X? If percentage of adopters was the key factor, GM wouldn't have even built that car. Or the ZR1, for that matter. They just think that people will buy anyway and that they can make more money without designing a manual transmission option. I generally scoff at this phrase, but I'm convinced it's corporate greed.

Fair argument, but Ford has called it a sports car since day 1. The modern versions turn corners and stop quite well, which to me is really the definition of "sporty".
