Neither of those cars make anywhere near the torque of the C8
The V10 in the R8 is within about 50 ft lbs. And it's an example, not the exact transmission. Why is this so important to you? GM isn't going to put a manual in the C8. And it wouldn't have been that difficult. They just decided not to do it, even though roughly 25-30% of C7s were manuals.

As far as I'm concerned, they could completely make up for it by putting Camaros back into production and offering a new Z28 Camaro with the Z06 engine and a manual transmission option.

Naah, like Shelby said These cars were meant to be driven! I would burn the wheels off it and have fun. Who wants to die and have a wonderful machine like that sitting with almost no miles in a garage somewhere knowing you never got to use it. Who cares what it sells for when you’re dead. If you’re going to pay for it then enjoy it. You can’t take it with you!
Oh they re gonna be garage queens. I'll pull em out every couple of weeks and play with them on my city street carpet. Can't let hot wheels sit in the box all the time.

And the R8 transmission was $28,000

Almost half the price of the C8
When I looked it up, I got $12K to $20K for a new replacement of the R8 manual transaxle.

You don't think Chevy could build a manual transaxle with their cost being less than the retail price of the Audi transaxle shipped here from Germany? Audis are notorious for having expensive replacement parts. C7 transaxles are about $6-8K retail. The DCTs in the C8 are roughly double that - pretty similar in price to the "exotic" Audi assembly.

And those are retail prices, not manufacturer's costs. This convinces me even more that GM could have made a lot more money if they offered the manual as an option. The manual cars would cost less to build than the DCT version.

They supposedly put it out there to a couple OEMs and nobody either could, or wanted to do it for the price and the specs they requested.

The C8 DCT is supposedly $15,000

The Ricard transaxle in the old GT500 was $18,000....add 20 years of inflation onto that.

They also probably didn't want the cars performance being hampered by Joe Corvette owner not double clutching and heel toeing with his New Balances

Yes, the DCT takes a lot of potential user error away, doesn't it?

Wow that's heavy for a Corvette my Mustang is 3820 without driver
The Mustang will weigh a heck of a lot more if you try to make over 1,000 hp with it, stop, turn etc. But yeah, for a 2 seat, all aluminum sports car, the C8 is heavy.

Also a pretty insane setup but I’m guessing the mid engine and lower center of gravity will have you beat on a road course. Albeit, you did yours at a fraction of the cost so def a feat still

Certainly a big jump in weight from the C6ZR1 and C7ZR1 but also not surprised with all the added weight of electronics, additional coolers, etc
