This is certainly not meant as a boastful post but both my driver and passenger cool on the bottom and back. My build date is 1/15. This is my first car with cooled seats but not the first time I have sat in them. My feel every bit as strong as other manufacturers. I normally do not leave it on longer than thirty minutes and I normally use the second level but I doubt that makes any difference.
I doubt yours will cool more than 15 minutes. Mine work good for 15 min on the back, then the cooling stops.

I highly doubt this is build date specific since it's been proven that making the fan suck cool air from below the seat fixes the problem.

My build was 1/15. When cool seats are activated I initially get minimal cooling then they start to get very hot. I have not yet taken this in to the dealership to have them checked.

Build week 11/17/2014.

Seat bottom cooling is weak. On a long drive this last weekend I observed that the seat back had no apparent cooling.

This am, after a night in the upper 60's, a minute after I got out of the car after a short drive but with the cooled seat still running, it was 78F on the bottom cushion, 87F on the lumbar, and 81F on the upper seatback (about 3/4 up).

For what it's worth, I am tall enough so that the back of the front seatback touches the front of the rear seat bottom cushion. This is probably not good for airflow.

If you didn't know it was a truck forum it reads just like our issue. Check out post 612 and the thermal imaging of the seat. http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-your-seat-backs-working-properly-304154/index62/#post4241107

and post 42!!! The same damn part@! http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/42-2015-ford-f150-ecoboost-chat/11403-platinum-seat-cooling-issue-5.html
That thermal imaging series of pics says it all. Here is where we may see some movement. F150 is bread and butter for Ford. Hope we see some news sooner than later.

We need a poll at the beginning of this thread like theirs as well. Any way to do that I wonder?

Misery loves company...

Whatever company Ford outsourced theses seat designs too is getting angry phone calls from some Ford departments... If this is happening in the F150 you better believe Ford cares.

Just a matter of time until they first correct it in production, then the tsb will follow.

I don't think that Ford will do a TSB for an 'inconvenience'! We will have to wait until someone's seat gets so hot that their skin is burned or the seat goes up in flames. Then Ford will try to say that the victim should not be smoking in a Mustang.

It is not an inconvenience, it is a faulty part, it doesn't operate as advertised. Would you consider having cruise control that didn't work an inconvenience or a faulty system? Having the same problem in the F150 community will drive this forward faster than if it were just us here. Right now I am convinced this is a DESIGN FLAW. A TSB will only be issued when Ford sources a different upper unit OR creates a plastic shroud and tube that lets the cooler take cabin air from the bottom of the seat OR redesigns it totally for the 2017 model year. We won't be seeing a TSB for a long while even with the F150 community on Ford. Redesigning a unit or re-engineering a new intake shunt takes time and money. What I would like to know is that Ford officially acknowledges the problem and will be working on it. Right now we basically know nothing and it sucks. :(

Does anyone belong to either of the two F150 forums listed in this thread? If you do, would you please link up this thread so we can "pool" our complaints. That unit looks to be the exact unit we have. Strength in numbers. :)

"Inconvenience" is the sarcastic term I have given to Ford's response to anything that doesn't kill or maim one of their customers. I found out that the 2015 A6 Navigation chip does not map out lake bodies for Minnesota or upper Wisconsin. The response I got back was that Ford was sorry that this 'inconvenience' has occurred but was totally silent about fixing the missing information. MY dealer also called the inability of my heated/cooling seats to cool the seat back an 'inconvenience', and literally said that they didn't think Ford was going to do any retro-fit to the problem for such a minor 'inconvenience'!

I will get very upset if my dealer, when my car will arrive, said that my 700-eur-non-working-cilmated-seats are only an inconvenience and no one cares about fixing that!

I think it's very inconvenient that one of the primary features of the Premium group that I wanted (a primary reason I spent the $4000 upgrade) is the cooled seats that DO NOT WORK.

If it's inconvenient to fix them, I'd be OK with getting my $4000 back.

I got the EB instead of the V6 because of the cooled seat availability.

To be specific, if the cooled seats were available on the V6, I would have gotten that. If the cooled seats were not available at all, I would have held off buying. I will stop typing before uttering sacrileges.

This, complete bullshit. I passed on the recaro's because i thought how nice it would be to have cooled seats in the summer where i drive my car the most. Now i have seats HEATING my back in the summer. :censored:

Absent fires, there will be a class action suit and Ford will end up writing everyone a check for $50 and the lawyers a check for a lot more.

If they actually start fires, Ford will recall, remove the cooling element wiring, and write all the unburned a check for $100 ($300 if this also disables the heating function).

So anyone have a 3d printer willing to render up a intake tube we could maybe glue to the assembly? Im thinking a tube that tries to get air from the perforated leather back instead of a long tube going under the seat. I found my rigged up setup doesnt work because i think the fan isnt powerful enough to pull air that far and keep it cool. Coming right from the seat back makes more sense.

This was also ford logic to begin with. The back seat perforations are there for cool air to get to the cooler, but that doesnt work.
