I have not tested the mod after leaving work. That test should happen tomorrow.
I'm very interested in the results for this. I have an appointment scheduled on Tuesday (solely for escalation, I don't expect anything new). I would like to be able to take all of this to them.

Maybe I'll print this thread out and give it to them. :frusty:

You could give it a shot, but in my experience any time a dealer service person hears the word "internet" or "online" they immediately ignore it or reject it.

You may want to tell them to actually test the temperature of the seats with an IR/laser thermometer other than just relying on what the computer says the units temperatures are. That way they SEE that they aren't cooling properly on the back other than just going through the motions by plugging it in and reading the data. They will always take the laziest way out. Have them take a temperature reading on the back of the top of the seat as well where the hot waste air vents. Or at minimum have them put their hand there and they can tell it is HOT at that spot.

Good luck. You already know the results.:(

My cooled seats work quite well. I ran the A/C also. I set the seat cooling to max...the seat bottom cooled quickly...but no cold feeling. Within a few minutes I could feel the lower seat back cooling, but the cooling only extended about 12 inches up. There never was a cooling effect in the upper part of the seat backs. Seat cooling is not as effective as I had hoped...but it does help keep the leather seats fairly comfortable.

Forgive me, but I would like to see some solid proof.

The seat bottoms have never been in question, but considering the number of people with the same problem and the architecture of the seat, I believe you are mistaken.

I just picked up a Charger SXT with cooled seats. 10 times better, I can actually feel the cooling on my back.

On another Mustang forum, I also saw that some negative comments about the seats cooling... Since I bought my car this spring, I can't comment on the heat aspect- but, :

BIGGEST POSITIVE SURPRISE I HAVE HAD ABOUT MY ECBOOST OTHER THAN THE GREAT ACCELERATION /POWER IS THE AIR CONDITIONED SEATING !

I get remarkably cold air coming from my tush up to my back !

EXCELLENT SEAT COOLING ! 5 STAR.

I think you're probably mistaken. It's probably the cool from the bottom you feel on your lower back. There's nothing that low on the seat back that cools. The cooling duct is much higher. If you look back a few pages in this thread you can see how it's laid out. The Ford service technician showed me the seat break down on the computer. There's no cooling in the lumbar area.

Holy hell, just found this thread and it piqued my interest.

I've got a '16 on order with heated/cooled seats (ditched the Recaro in my PP for these seats, as the temps here in ATL hover around 100 from June til September)

I also noticed the back portion of my girls EB seats get hotter, as opposed to colder. When the 'seat cooling' switch is turned on. As stated many times, it appears counter productive. I also work at Ford and have access to other diagrams and schematics, as well as I can order the units separately. I will look into this tomorrow at work and update this thread with what I've found.

I was thinking just last night it would be great if we had someone with some kind of "insider" knowledge. Thanks for showing some interest Zemedici.

And, sorry again, droid_junky. I had confused who had written what and thought you were someone else.

I think I may have included temps before or at least ranges, but decided I'd give it another go under more extreme circumstances (sorry no photos). Outside temp 106°, car in shade for a couple hours, only testing passenger seat that has bottom flap unhooked but not pulled up, A/C on high directed at feet only to begin with.

At the beginning only the center panel on the bottom cushion and the 2nd from the top panel on the seat back cool and heat respectively. Later the cooling begins to spread out on the bottom cushion. The heating on the back doesn't really spread that much beyond the one panel.

Measuring only the coldest and hottest point
Both upper and lower start at 103°
after 2min. lower is 87°, upper 106°
after 5min. lower is 83°, upper 104°, unperforated part of seat is 96°
I then inserted a 1.5" deep x 4" wide x 24" tall open-ended rectangular tube
after 10min (5min with tube) lower is 77°, upper 97°, unperforated part of seat is 91°
I then removed the tube, hooked the bottom flap back up and changed the air to blow through upper vents as well, but not blowing directly on seat.
5min after that, upper was 107° and rising slowly

So it seems just unhooking the flap so the air isn't so trapped helps quite a bit as has already been mentioned. And, doing something to open up that back a little more helps some as well. It was a little disappointing that the bottom took so long for the cooling to spread out beyond the center, but maybe sitting in the seat would affect that somehow.

No problem.

Ok, after doing some digging this morning Here's what I've Found:

The above illustration is correct, with the piece selected being reffered to as a 'Vent Blower Assembly', the same name as the 'B' on the lower portion of the seat, that cools the cusion. I'm going to order this piece (Retails for $80, no biggie) and see If I can figure out if the failure is due to the component design itself (you gents previously referring to the rear vents being blocked by a piece of plastic) or some sort of outside source (IE the seatback, map pocket, etc preventing sufficient airflow, or if the vent is collapsing under the weight of a person sitting in the seat. I weigh 140 lbs so don't say that I'm calling you guys overweight, as it happens for me too!

I'll see what I can find out, and come back with my findings. The piece is on backorder through ford atm but as soon as I get one I shall let you guys know.

Been following this thread for a while, as I have the same complaint. Yesterday on the way home, I tested using the ac on full, with the dash and floor vents. The back of my seat still felt somewhat warm. I think just went to just dash vents, and 2-3 min you could actually feel the back of the seat get warmer. I turned on the floor vents, and felt the heat almost all go away. I had an F150, seats were much better than this.
Let’s get you to your dealer to get this checked out and documented, MaxInTx. Please, make an appointment as soon as possible. Also, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Cooled seats, what cooled seats!?

I will let Ford Customer Service escalate. As not only does it not cool, it actually feels like it is heating.
Thanks, peetucket. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Be sure to bring it in and PM me with your info as well, Bradrulz. Send me your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Please show this thread to your managers. Collectively, we have found no satisfaction, or even acknowledgement of this design flaw, through any regular channels and have been callously dismissed by all levels. Perhaps you can find somebody at Ford with a shred of pride in the company's work who will do something for us.
