Time to put it up on ramps or jackstands and crawl under there while the engine is running. How much pressure did you put into the sytem when you pressure tested it? Are you using a compressor type or one that has a hand pump?
21 psi, and used a hand pump. I already checked under the car and saw no signs of leaks. And even took off the splash plate to get better angles to see and still saw nothing

21 PSI isn't enough. The cap is rated at that pressure, but Like I said, the pressure can increase when everything is hot and you shut off the engine.

Take the cap off, and look for cracks in the O-rings that are in there. If you are seeing the coolant towards the back of the motor however, it may not be the cap. Gravity is pretty consistent, so the coolant is always going to run along the engine, or frame or whatever until it hits it's lowest point, then drip on the ground

what would you pump the pressure up to when doing a test?

what would you pump the pressure up to when doing a test?
30 PSI. This will simulate the increase in pressure when you shut off the hot engine. When you say it held pressure - how long did it hold 21 psi after you stopped pumping?

i only held it for abt 15-20 minutes
then took the tester off

Yeah, give it a few more PSI, and inspect the cap. Report back

I have a 2015 ford mustang 3.7L and I am experiencing a coolant leak. I need some help if someone has had the same issue. I was getting off work and I saw a puddle on the ground under my car. I saw that it was coolant so i popped my hood and sure enough my coolant level was low. Whenever i got home i jacked up the car and looked under for any leaks. I found nothing. I then did a coolant pressure test on the system and the system held pressure. There is no sign of leaks anywhere. Nothing on the front cover, no hoses seem to be leaking. So i just topped off the coolant and when i got to work the next day i notice another puddle under the car, it was coolant again. i checked the level in the overflow tank and it was still on the max level. I’m lost right now, any ideas?
Hey OP, it is your water pump that is failing.
On the 3.7L V6 engine the water pump is a known issue that will fail and it will happen just like this. There will be a coolant leak, but then it will go away. Will be hard to detect and your car will pass pressure tests.
Be on the lookout for this to actually fail. I would recommend getting it replaced while the car still operates normally in the in-between periods. It will happen more regularly as time goes by.
Hope this helps, cheers.

also would you see coolant leaking from water pump on the front cover if this is the case?

Not too familiar on the V6 but coolant is a liquid after all and can travel to different spots. I would listen for a typical grinding type of noise of failing water pump, then inspect the water pump peep hole or around the area. Then might help if you add a dye into your coolant and pressure test then so you can get a visual on the location. I suggest get it up and inspecting all the coolant hoses, etc while running. Good luck.

But the coolant cap can cause issues too, the system needs to be pressurized if not it will boil over causing coolant loss.

Not always, sometimes its failed seal leaking but the pump is still pumping. So you will get a leak but no overheating. The lower coolant level eventually causes the overheating.

^^^ and you won’t see the leak unless you can get under the car to see the water pump weep hole - because once the seal starts to go bad the coolant will leak through the weep hole, that is by design.

If the water pump has never been replaced, then it’s most likely a WP issue.
