For those of you that have built reliable (or at least as reliable as can be expected) high horsepower motors what rods would you recommend for use with a cross plane crank? I'm currently looking at the Manley H-Tuff rods.

Would prefer to steer clear of I beam rods and don't really want to get into a debate about I beam vs H beam.

I also have wondered about the Manley 300M I beams, don't know anyone running them though.

I'd skip the h-tuff rod for a boosted application. Why run a 3/8 bolt when so many options run a 7/16? Molnar power adder, boostline, callies, Carillo all good options.

I know that the boostlines are a combination I and H .... sometimes some call them A beam but actual A beams look like the letter A

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll take a look at Callies and Boostline rods.

H-Tuffs are no joke for the price. I believe they have around a 175-200HP per rod rating.

If the OP is looking to purchase, how can one justify a rod that uses 3/8 bolts over another that uses 7/16 at the same price? You can't.

95% of the time, it’s not the bolt diameter that causes the failure though….

So that's why you should spend the same money on a rod with inferior hardware?
