Check your splitter install

As I've said in prior posts, I found one car on the dealer lot where the splitter was not flush against the fascia and they had not installed the "45 degree" screws.

Moral of the story.

1.) If you have the means, install it yourself.
2.) If you take delivery, and don't have the means to install it yourself, make sure they watch the video. (Proceed to #3 below.)
3.) If you take delivery with it already installed, make sure it was installed correctly using all the fasteners.

I was asking that person if they could make a determination on them after the splitter came off their car at high speed. If the "45 degree" screws weren't used that would explain why it detached.

Understood. I would think if the bolts were installed and it ripped off, there'd be damage and if the bolts were either not installed or not torqued enough and vibrated out, there'd be no damage. You probably know that too- not rocket surgery..
I agree with your other points about doing it yourself or ensuring the tech watches the video. All good stuff.

Guys, I need help! The front splitter on my Shelby Track Pak is about 1.5 in. lower (as is the underside) than my previuos S550 PP. This is causing me all sorts of problems from light brushing underneath the fascia when I get in the ramp in my carport. Other than sellimg my house, is there a solution of installing some plastic guard to protect the underside of the front spoiler? Thanks for all the help.

BTW, just love the triple yellow with the black top, no stripes. It's stunning in person. Brutally cool.

don't mean to hijack the thread but I tried to get my splitter installed this weekend. Watched the video probably 100 times. Got the left and right wings on no problem and thankfully my long arms helped get the half moon clips in without much issue. But when it came to the center splitter the right (drivers side) goes in without any problems.. the top of the splitter is as flush as I can tell to the car but the right side (passenger) will not get flush to the side splitter. I removed and re-installed a dozen times. The first few sets of bolt / holes align properly on the drivers side but as you get towards center and to the passenger side they do not. Anyone else have any issues like this? Rubber mallet, brute force, no dice.

That's a tough one. The only thing I can think of is that some of your j-clips aren't positioned correctly. Which screws are giving you the trouble? The ones near the fascia or further back by the belly pan?

As long as it's not "impacting" as opposed to "brushing" I wouldn't worry too much about it. You're going to rub it out driving around town, through intersections, in/out of shopping centers etc.

That's a tough one. The only thing I can think of is that some of your j-clips aren't positioned correctly. Which screws are giving you the trouble? The ones near the fascia or further back by the belly pan?

all the screws go in fine except for the belly pan. Weird. I'll have to take it apart again this weekend and if needed post pics. tnx!

Check the tips in post #20. Before putting the center splitter piece on, thread the torx head belly pan screws in to the j-clips far enough that they go up through the hole in the belly pan thereby centering the clip on its associated hole. You might try ignoring the video center-to-outboard instructions as well. After getting the center piece positioned, try getting each screw partially threaded and then tighten center-to-outboard. I think it helped to push the center piece toward the back of the car when hand threading the belly pan screws in. Hope this helps.

How tall? Have you tried backing in? They also make mini-ramps for tall driveways

I have to add a +1 to the advice "make sure it's on right or do it yourself". I knew mine wasn't on correctly from day 1 but didn't want to go through the hassle of making my dealer fix it knowing I would eventually be able to get someone more capable to do it. Then like several of you it "separated" quite a bit with high speed and I went ahead and took it to the dealer. Wasted a lot of time and pushed through a lot of dealer BS and claims that I broke it until the body shop manager admitted it was installed with at most 4 of the 8 bolts.

Sounds like the body shop manager did the right thing....kinda makes me think the aforementioned manager was responsible in someway for the initial incorrect installation....

I am missing one bolt and clip. Anyone have part numbers for the hardware?

Newp. That's what mine looked like when I took delivery.

If I hadn't been concerned about transport damage to the fascia tabs I would've just loosened the fasteners and attempted to get the center tab to seat in the hole (you can see in the photo). You might try that.
