I was checking the oil on my 2017 GT350 when I noticed a metallic clip sitting in the drivers side valve cover bolt hole valley....just sitting there! At first I had no idea what it went to but found that it has a tether which attaches to the hard line coming from the engine fuel rail supply or return line right where it attaches to the chassis fuel hard line that goes down the firewall. Looking at how it was supposed to fit it looks like the clip fits under the chassis fuel line and pulls it tight to the engine fuel line - keeping the two from disconnecting. I re-attached it, it fit perfect and is secure. My guess is that it was never installed correctly when the engine was installed. I drove 5k miles like this and never noticed any fuel leaks.

Yikes!!! I feel like I was lucky not to turn into a fireball!

Those lines have an internal locking mechanism as well - that clip is usually the "safety" which I agree, should be attached as well.

I think this is how it's supposed to attach, can someone check theirs and verify if I have this on right?
I found the same clip in the exact same place(drivers side valve cover valley) the day after I picked up my car.Dealer figured it was just an extra piece...If this is correct, then it is from my fuel line as well. Thanks for posting as that clip has haunted me somewhat!!

Just checked mine, it is firmly attached. Thanks for the heads up though!

Definitely had that safety save my ass on my EEC-IV FI 65 Fastback..... Caused a slight spray and fuel smell rather than a huge 255lph gush!
