Hey Guys,

After documenting everything on my 2015 EcoBoost Build Thread under the name “NOTAV8,” I wanted to take this opportunity to start a new thread for the GT.

For those that are wondering what happened to the EcoBoost, you can read about it in the build thread. The TL;DR of it is that it was involved in a four-car accident back in February and totaled. Thankfully it wasn’t my fault, and most importantly, nobody was hurt.

Fast forward to now, I picked up a used 2015 GT at Sheehy Ford in Gaithersburg, MD and quickly started throwing parts at it to make it my own. This 2015 GT is my fifth Mustang (of hopefully many more to come). I’ve also had a 2006 V6, 2004 GT, 2011 GT, the EcoBoost and now this GT. Not sure what will be next, but I’m more than happy with the Coyote on the S550 platform.

A little about myself -- I work in the Marketing Dept. at CJ Pony Parts - this is my personal 6G account and build thread. I’ve been a Mustang fan as long as I can remember, but truly a car enthusiast at heart. If you have any questions about my car, mods, or CJ’s, don’t hesitate to let me know!

Thanks for checking out the thread!
-Chris

Initial Build Photos

I had to get a lot done on this car in a short amount of time to get complete for this year's season, so I wasn't able to document everything as well as I wanted. But, here are some photos along the way.

--Purchase Date [3/19/2017]--
After having a Competition Orange EcoBoost, I was honestly looking for a different color. Leaning towards White, or a great deal on a Grabber Blue 2017, I found a couple decent deals but nothing worth pursuing. Then, a friend of mine sent me a link to this 2015 GT with 35k miles that was just traded in less than 24 hours earlier. After making a call to my old Sheehy store in Gaithersburg, MD, they had the car transferred and ready to go within a few days. I got there, made sure the car was clean and she was good to go. Plus was that it even had a Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back already installed!

--Roof Wrapped by @wild_wrapz [4/8/2017]--
Shoutout to the guys at @wild_wrapz for taking care of me with little notice. Had the roof wrapped on the EcoBoost and loved it from the day it was done - had to get it done on the GT as well.

--The First Modifications [4/9/2017]--
It wasn't long before I couldn't keep myself from turning a wrench on her. With a long list of parts ready to go on the car before the show/race season started, it was time to get to work. With the help of a few Mustang friends, we got all the LED's swapped out, emblems switched, front grille emblem plasti-dipped, black heat extractors and a couple other things. We also discovered a small exhaust leak on the driver's side head pipe after the manifold and before the mid-pipe. Took the car to Meyers Ford in Elkton, VA and they took great care of me - exhaust (even with the aftermarket cat-back), puddle lights and a few other things were all replaced under warranty. It's tough to find a good dealer now-a-days - refreshing that these guys took such good care of me.

--Cruise-In At Cooters in Luray, VA [4/15/2017]--
Met up with some of the local Mustang (and an RS) owners in the area through the club I started in Central Virginia, Shenandoah Mustangs. We all headed up to Cooters for their first cruise-in of the year. Took a fun route through the mountains and of course the moment we all pull in, you hear Mustang Sally on the loudspeakers - go figure!

--Sunset Photoshoot over Blue Ridge Mountains [4/20/2017]--
Had the opportunity to make it up on the mountain for a quick sunset photoshoot. Really happy with how these turned out.

--Side Accent Stripes & Tattered American Flag Decals at Anchor Room [4/21/2017]--
Drove down towards Virginia Beach to meet up with Jason and the guys at Anchor Room. Got a tour of their facility and it's a very well-run operation for sure. Anyways, Jason and I went back and forth perfecting the design of the Tattered American Flag decal for months, so I was very excited to finally get it on the car. If you want to grab this for your own Mustang - the kit is available at CJ's now!

--West Virginia Cruise With Shenandoah Mustangs [4/30/2017]--
Got together with the Shenandoah Mustangs crew again for a cruise out into Wild & Wonderful West Virginia. We had a blast on those twisty, banked mountain backroads and I really got a feel for what the GT is capable of. It's crazy how much differently the GT handles from the EcoBoost with those couple hundred pounds over the front wheels!

--Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust Sound Clips [5/4/2017]--

--Abandoned Performance Shop Shoot [5/6/2017]--

PCA Autocross - 5/13/17

First autocross event of the year -- and wow, what a blast! I'm pretty darn happy with the Continental ExtremeContact DW tires. Looking forward to getting a few more events under my belt this year.

WDCR Autocross - STP - 6/4/2017

With the car pretty much done for the season in terms of modifications (I know, famous last words...), I was quite pleased with how well the GT handled on a wide, more open autocross course. Taking place at FedEx Field, the average speed of this track was definitely a bit higher than what I'm used to from the PCA events. It was also much hotter that day than the other autocross session, so the tires stuck a bit better.

There were a couple completely stock GT's there with RE71R's that ran about 1-2 seconds faster than me. Which is about right for ExtremeContact DW tires vs the much stickier 200TW RE71R's. Looking forward to getting into something more aggressive in 2018.

Photoshoot: Light Painting & Old Dupont Paint Factory

On Monday, we went out to hunt some fireworks shows and found ourselves in a pretty dark and secluded area. Had to get the tripod out and try light painting on the GT. Not too shabby.

Yesterday, I went out for a drive and found myself at an old Dupont Paint Factory. The place has been decommissioned and shut down for years. Would love to be able to get inside of one of these buildings for some a shoot, but the outside will have to do for now...

Love the car, hate the Virginia regulations. Big sticker on the windshield, front license plate required. That' why I LOOOOOOVE Florida! No inspections, no front license plate, no stickers in any windows!

Mustang Club Install Day

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! Much appreciated!

Today, I got together with the Shenandoah Mustangs group today for an Install Day. Didn't do much on my car (for once), but we did a mid-pipe swap on a '12 Boss 302, fixed some exhaust rattle issues on a 2006 V6 and dropped a transmission on an '99 GT. Always fun hanging out and turning some wrenches with fellow Mustangers. Check out some photos below!

I was really nervous about the quality of those graphics, been kicking the idea around for months. Looks great, just may pull the trigger.
Yeah, I'm really happy with them. Gotta be careful cleaning around the more tattered area of the flag towards the top of the hood, but aside from that they look awesome and get a ton of attention. Looking forward to seeing them on your car!
