Project -- NVH

NVH stands for noise, vibration, and harshness. I plan on adding all three to my GT.:ford:

Why did I buy a GT?

I have been searching for a new daily driver for awhile. When the 2015 Mustang GT came out, I knew I had to have one. It fit all my needs. In late September I placed an order for a GT with the following options:

-Competition Orange
-300A
-6-Speed manual
-Recaros
-Spoiler delete
-All Weather Mats

A few months later it arrived:

My very first modifcation was my Borla ATAK Exhaust:

With no drone I am really happy with it!

Next mod was 20% tint and then 19" Forgestar F14s( now with PS4s)

Here is my Tiger Racing carbon fiber hood. This is the only after market hood for the 2015+ Mustang that has been wind tunnel tested. I drive it in the rain with no issues. IAT temps have dropped and the dreaded issue of hood lift at speed is gone.

The following posts will contain information about my suspension and brake upgrades. I want to document how big of a change this makes at the road course. The track I go to is Toronto Motorsports Park. Videos will come in the future!

Went to Mosport GP. It was a lot of fun. I threw on a set of brand new RE71Rs.

August 18, 2020: DriveTeq day at Mosport GP

Sadly, my day was cut very short due to a mechanical problem. I hope to have it fixed by next week, but we'll see. I am hoping to make OTA's Shannonville event on the 29/30th.

Here are some pics:

Here is an update to this thread. I went out with DriveTeq twice in the last couple of weeks. It was great to finally meet Ed (Fast Ed) in person and he gave me a lot of really helpful coaching and holy hell he is fast lol. I also went again this week and had some additional coaching and refined the timing of brake releases and improved my shifting a lot so its more smooth. I was bumped up to Intermediate with DriveTeq and it was a lot of fun sharing the track with Vipers, GT350Rs, GT3 RS, etc. I feel like every time I go the track with DriveTeq, my driving improves a lot as I apply what I have learned. Even though DriveTeq is expensive, I think its worth every penny base don the amount of seat time you get and the quality of the events and coaches, also everyone is really nice and welcoming.

I also went to TMP yesterday and I applied everything I learned from the coaches at DriveTeq and shaved 1.72seconds off my best ever time at TMP with Pilot 4S street tires. I was using RE71Rs during my previous PB, which are way faster tires and have far more grip. I was out on the track for 30min and I did my best time near the end. The Pilot 4S tires are really good. Throughout the day, I did play with the coilover settings and each click did make a difference. I started full soft and gradually made it stiffer until it felt the best.

Here are some analytics from the lap timer i have. New PB at TMP on Pilot 4S tires is 1:20:49 and I know there is still a lot more room there on the current set up with Pilot 4S. I think under 1:20 is possible with the Pilot 4S tires.

improv.png

The red line is new PB, red line is old PB. Delta T is the improvement in the lap time. The x axis shows the position on the track.

Here is the final update for the year. Last weekend, I went to Mosport with the BMW Trillium Club and it was a really fun experience. It is pretty amazing how much grip there was given the really cold temps that ranged from 2*C to a high of 8*C. With the encouragement of my friend and instructor, Gerhard, I finally got to the point where I didn't touch the brakes at all for turns 2 & 4 and braked really late towards turn 8 way after the bridge. My best time of the day was 1:34:92 on Pilot 4S tires that eventually got corded. My instructor and friend Gerhard gave me a lot of really helpful instruction and it was a ton of fun. I am really happy with how much I improved this year! This is such a fun hobby.

Okay, this might be my best score yet.

5 Forgelines wheels at a really really great price. There is a slight bend in two of the rims but they are fixable.

Here is the latest update on the Mustang. The suspension is being freshened up in anticipation for the new track season. Sadly due to the surge in cases, most of the upcoming track days have been cancelled. The front sway bar bushing needed to be replaced as it was torn. Likewise, the front caliper was also leaking at the caliper seals so I ordered new seals from AP Racing. I also managed to snag 3 sets of 305/30/19 Bridgestone Potenza RE71Rs as they are now discontinued. I wanted to make sure I am on the same set of tires so I can track my progress in the data and to ensure variation is as little as possible.

Here are the parts being installed:

Wavetrac Diff
Cortex Racing Adjustable Anti Roll Bar Link Front
Cortex Racing Adjustable Anti Roll Bar Link Rear
Cortex Racing Front and Rear Monoball Spherical Bushings for the control arms
Cortex Racing Bump Steer Kit
Cortex Racing Rear Toe Links
BMR On-Car Adjustable Camber Links
Ferodo DS1.11 pads front
OEM pads and rotors rear

And some photos :)

The AP Racing rotors have a ton of mileage on them and many track days. They are still going strong. Starting thickness is 36mm, minimum thickness is 32mm. They are still at 36mm. They are to be replaced only if there is a crack from the edge and/or if the J hook is faded. The crazing (micro cracks) are normal on them.

And here are some pics of the 305/30/19 RE71Rs that I will be running on all four corners. They are now discontinued. I purchased three sets to play with lol

Here are some pictures of the GT on the ground. It is so aggressive with the negative camber.

A Wavetrac was also installed. It was corner balanced with perfect 50-50 distribution and weighs 3544# with a full interior

@VRYALT3R3D, wow that is an amazing build but I must have missed the part where you added a cooler for the differential or the bigger oil cooler. haven’t been able to get out yet but really admire your passion. Gives me motivation. Looks like Apex wheels your wearing now. Planning for a roll bar setup? Surprised you didn’t add a cradle lock out kit or bracket kit to complete the rear suspension. Keep it coming!!
