I've been fighting knock/false knock issues with my setup since I installed it earlier in the summer. Recently I've had some significant reduction by readjusting my intake piping and actually putting all the fasteners into the under paneling.

Also, I always had a slight BBQ tick, but when I installed the kit and tuned the tick was much more pronounced. Very audible from about 1500-2500 rpm. When I installed the kit I used 5w-40 euro spec oil. Fill level was always in the middle.

Today I added a bottle of ceratek to the oil and bam, noise is completely gone and 95% of the kr is gone.

Idk if the BBQ tick would have been read by the knock sensors or if it was something else. But that little $30 bottle definitely did something.

I used just half a bottle and it worked like magic. The trans and diff both require an additive, and we all (Ford included) can accept that fact. They need to reformulate their engine oil already, or accept some type of friction modifier as OK to use. I mean, even the 7G cars are doing it. Lol! Been going since 2011. I guess they plan for it to be this way forever??

I think they've denied/downplayed the issue for so long, they can't back peddle their way out of it now. Too many people have gone down the hole, not using ceratec, that if they now said a modifier is needed, all the people who have been too afraid to use one would probably file suit. Hence, it continues.

Bottom line: I'll be using ceratec from now on.

It really is incredible how well it worked.

I never would have thought it would have that significant effect on my kr, but here we are.

Nice, you can also try Penzoil Ultra Platinum (PUP), which also has the high Boron count and does the same thing.

Ceratec does work well. I started using the Liquimoly Molygen motor oil, it basically has the Ceratec already in it, it works great too...

After 15 years, I enjoy the mystery of the tik. It's like watching a Magician. You want to figure out how they did it. But you don't ever wanna truly know because it's more fun to believe in magic.

Last I checked ford has never said what is actually causing the tik? And the Internet is full of people claiming they know, naturally contradicted by other people claiming they also know...

I feel like some Ford engineers must know exactly what it is 😂 But like lots of engineers companies require significant NDA's.

I have some old logs that I can compare against a new one, but no video. I'll look when I get home.

After adjusting everything and making sure everything I could find wasn't contacting something I basically would only get 1-3kr in 1st if I floored it and sometimes in second. I could floor it in 3rd and 4th and not have any kr.

Now after the ceratec I saw <.5kr for a split second during a 1-2 shift. Nothing really in 2nd anymore.

Hopefully it stays that way, but for now the car seems to be loving it.

I just used that oil on my '21 Toyota Tundra. The engine does sound a bit more quiet now. Somehow, it feels smoother. I used Ceratec on my '17 Mustang GT even though I didnt have a tick. Still dont at 42k miles

How can it be so hard to keep this secret for so many years? With all the powertrain engineers that have retired or have been gutted since 2011, someone has to have an objective and conclusive technical explanation. I was part of the purge of 3000 ICE staff from Ford's payroll in 2022 and then another 1000 were let go in 2023, there are no NDAs hanging over our heads. Come on former Ford Engineers, what's the real scoop?

Ah shit, sorry to hear that.

I mean one has to assume that at some point Ford took the time to research, and figure it out.

I mean for all intents and purposes Ford came out and said it's nothing to really worry about. And ultimately that's proven to be true. For them to know that they must have had to know more details😂

My son's F150, which he just bought used, started getting loud. Told him do a change with PUP oil. It immediately got quiet and has stayed quiet during this first oil change.
I guess Fords keeping the noises a trade secret, LOL.
