Even 3999 would be absurd.

A brand new gen 3 block was $850 2 years ago

A race oriented iron block is not the same as a mass production alum block. The cost is what it is. Cheaper is better for sure.

there's not really a point in using this if you aren't going for like near 2K hp in a dedicated drag/rollrace build. with turbos and everything you're adding at least 300lbs to the front of the car, maybe more.

It really only makes sense in a lightweight race car with power exceeding reliability/serviceability limits of an aluminum block. The upside is that we have another option if needed. It will be interesting to see if the added power capability spawns other coyote based advancements. I'm sure there are a few folks out there getting to work on these already.

Yeah, it's nice that this exists for those pushing the boundaries. Obviously 99% people don't need this, but that doesn't make it useless.

My first impression was that they were going to use the iron blocks in the Raptor trucks and Bronco's. Would that make more sense? Did they ever come out with Coyote Raptor motors? I know there was some buzz about it.

No, they closest they got was the predator engine out of the 2020 GT500 in the raptor R

Couldn't disagree more. Did you watch that video? They are trying to recoup their R/D cost, nothing more, nothing less. All they did is copy the 5.2 predator and cast it in "secret" iron lmao! It's not even race-prepped. There is casting flash EVERYWHERE.

The cost to cast an iron block is so cheap it's ridiculuos.

I just meant the iron block is not the same as the production alum in the sense that it is specifically made for aftermarket sale. That obviously effects the price as its heavily based on the effort needed to bring that to market. You say it's so cheap, and it likely is in a massed production effort. But the retail price indicates it's more costly than you think. But we are speculating at this point. If one needs it and you are willing to pay, you can get it. If not, you're not a buyer. I personally am not a buyer on this one haha.

They are plenty stout for my naturally aspirated dreams!
You don't need anything more than a stock block for N/A, even crazy crazy builds. Heck even if you were boosted under 800rwhp you'd be fine with stock.

There's absolutely no need for you to be looking at sleeved or iron blocks for your needs.

Thank you!! I'll probably stay at 750 max when I do decide to boost. I don't race. I just happen to love the feel of power. I can't do anything with 700 horses except end up in jail or with more tickets than I care to donate to.

Yeah, me either. Me personally, I think they're just trying to recoup their R/D. Which is fine, but with how much power the current aluminum choices can withstand... we're good lol.
