The s550 will be faster in every aspect and much nicer in terms of interior. That being said the 2013 s197 boss 302 is a much better looking car in my opinion and is more of a muscle car while the s550 is more sports car.
Mustangs aren't muscle cars. Never were, aren't now, won't never be.

I see your point King Kona. I'm not a collector by any means and never purchased the car to make a profit. The only mustang I profited from was my 66FB I owned for years

Hum, that's the one to keep. Sell the Boss in 2 sec and don't look back. M1 with auto (do NOT get the HP) it will do you no good and just added expense and aggravation to replace the tires the first day.

Oooooo let me help you by taking that Boss 302 off your hands! Mach 1s are awesome and probably will be better suited for you since it will simply be more comfortable and easier to live with.

I am young, slightly crazy and like the difficult cars to live with. 🤓

Dang bro, 15 and got a Mach and Trailhawk? Are your parents looking to adopt?
Wow! is that what you read from my post...Sorry - I am 15 years younger than the OP.

And its TrackHawk not TrailHawk. The Trailhawk is not even close ;)

As much as I love the Mach, I would 100% not trade a mint Boss 302 for it. They are very special cars. If you can’t or don’t want to drive a manual then I would understand.

I owned a 2013 Boss 302, a 2016 GT350, and a 2019 GT350R. The S550 is a much more refined platform and much better on track. For a while I had the Boss and the 350 and for a street cruise I usually preferred the more raw feel of the Boss, YMMV.

Thanks..........another option I've considered is a nice clean 18-20 GT w/ PP1. I could probably locate a nice one for $15k-20k less less than the Mach and still keep the Boss. The Wife won't drive the Boss which is fine with me, hence looking for an automatic which she could enjoy also.

I agree with this. The Boss is a monster, a pure, raw, blissful muscle car. But the s550 is a sportscar, much more refined inside and out with better handling, nicer interior, more creature comforts, and faster performance. Its definitely an evolution over the old school, and you may like that or you may not.

Keep the B302, if possible.

There's going to be an obvious difference between the S197 B302 and the S550 M1. Biggest difference is the S550 rides on an updated rear IRS, while the B302 was still old school straight axle with the added panhard bar.

Each vehicle in its own right has specific "likes" and "dislikes".

The B302 was designed and meant to feel "raw", it wasn't a cushy/electronics riddled vehicle - it was built for raw power and feeling the road. It didn't come with a nice stereo, doesn't have a display, and has essentially a very basic interior (no leather) with limited features.

The S550 is just refined, cushy, full of electronic do-dads, "luxury" soft touch interior padding/leather and more nannie's than any street driver needs.

IMO - as far as engine reliability - the 2012-2013 B302 Roadrunner is a more reliable engine than the Coyote variants after it. You don't hear of VCT issues, crank sprockets detonating/cracking/breaking teeth. oil pump gear failures, or any other common "S550" warranty issues that have plagued the S550 Coyote.

I'm not in any way saying the Coyote is a bad engine - all I'm saying is from being a member on multiple Mustang forums since the 90's and staying up on all Mustang design changes - the Roadrunner has been extremely reliable in both a daily driver and beat-the-snot out of it on a track. Even back tracking years into B302 specific threads on the B302 site, there's less engine "drama" with the 2012-13 Roadrunner B302 than there is now going on 8-years of S550 Coyote posts in this forum and other S550 forums combined. The Roadrunner is an extremely well built and very reliable engine that has had less problems than the Coyotes that came after it.

Sure anyone can get a new S550 M1 with all the fancy gadgets, electronics, plush interior, drive modes, and "softer" ride - that's a given.

What you can't get is the B302's unique "stripped" platform that was designed and meant to be raw, which gives the driver that experience of being able to feel the road beneath them. The unique B302 factory exhaust is another quality that isn't close to an S550's "active exhaust". The S197's also had less sound deadener which again gives the driver more overall attentiveness to what the car is doing and how it's doing it.

Again, each platform has its own uniqueness and quirks. There really isn't any comparison between the (2) because they are just so different on so many levels.

If the OP can keep the B302 and land an M1, more power to him (and that would be the ultimate garage pairing). Long term, the B302 will be more admired and sought after than the S550 M1. I'm saying that due to Ford's current thought process of producing a "limited edition" vehicle but starts popping off tens of thousands of them. Prior to the S550, "Limited Edition" was just that - where actual production was less than 5-10k per year for a given speciality model. Not the mass produced quantities being seen today.

Nothing like a Green or School bus yellow BOSS 302. I saw a green 2013 at Barrett Jackson. It was MINT also.

Thanks Cobra Jet. I do love the sound of the 302, especially when using the Red Key. I also installed Borla Attak Cat Backs.

Traded in my GHIG 2013 Boss for my current Cyber Orange M1 In March. Loved the Boss and only traded because I wanted something different. I enjoyed the the rawness and muscle of the Boss and now enjoy the more refine advantages of the M1. You really can’t go wrong with either. As for looks, its about 50/50 from the people who have seen both my cars. Of course the only opinion that counts is mine.
