I ordered a Borla resonator from Summit racing for my 18 GT. Received it yesterday and when l opened it up, it's not as advertised. It's advertised as 3" in 3" out but only one end is 3", the other end is 21/2. Has anyone else experienced this, or did they ship me the wrong one?

I got the same thing. Returned it and got the magnaflow 3”. Half the price and works great. Highly doubt Borla would sound any different. It’s straight thru and surprisingly quieted it down a good amount

It's not advertised as a 3" inlet.

Sir if you go to the Summit website and look up Borla resonator part # 60661, it is advertised as 3 inch inlet, 3 inch outlet. That's why l was wondering if they sent me the wrong part.

I do not have stock headers on my car, l have a set of Kooks on it. And just because they show a picture in an advertisement doesn't necessarily mean it's the actual product being sold to you. Regardless, it was just a question l had concerning the part. I will modify the small inlet and make it work with my 3" exhaust. As long as it makes my car a little bit more quiet and doesn't hurt the performance l will be happy with it. Appreciate the input

So I bought all 3 Borla resonators as this was something I was curious about and I to can confirm that the 3" one was advertised as 3" in and out which is what I wanted. I also have the Kooks uncatted headers on my car and was trying to run it continuous with 3" till it exited the resonator down to 2.5" (I'm not changing my current axel back). ALL of the Borla resonotors have a 2.25" inlet and the exits are 3" and two that are 2.5". The difference between the two versions of the 2.5" exit ones is that one has sound deadening material and the 'Ford Performance" one has none....sounds like a hollow can.

I like the quality of the Borla resonator so I'm not going to go through the trouble of returning it, l will make it work. I am just looking for something that's free flowing and will make my car quieter. I have the factory axle back exhaust from my H-pipe and it's still to loud for me.

We had the same experience with the 60661 on my wife's 18. It sounded great with catless longtubes into factory active exhaust. However, 900whp blew it out internally in about a month and half with 4 or 5 track days so use at your own risk at higher HP levels. switched t othe magnaflow 12469 and picked up 2 mph also =D

Wow, that's definitely something to think about there. Maybe l will send it back and get the magnaflow, although l don't have that kind of horsepower, I'm staying naturally aspirated. But l bought my car primarily to drag race and I'm trying to get it into the 10's with the stock converter and gears. Almost there, best pass is 11.21 @ 126 with a 1.73 60 ft. I am not going to gut the car but l am going to lighten it tastefully.

I just installed the Ford Performance by Borla resonator on my Kooks catless longtubes to Ford Performance by Borla Extreme catback setup. There is absolutely nothing to blow out on this resonator because it does not use sound deadening material or any perforated tubing. Internally it is like an H-Pipe but near the inlet of one pipe has an air chamber and near the outlet of the other pipe is another air chamber. These 2 chambers simply cancel out the obnoxious rasp in the lower rpms. It works surprisingly well and allows me to have much better control over the volume of the exhaust. It is still LOUD AF at WOT and anytime I want it to be. When I had the Xpipe, it simply was ridiculous at any throttle position and I grew tired of it very quickly. I wish I took pictures of the inside of this resonator before I installed it but here is my shitty drawing of it. Ha!

Here is the pics of the inside of the Ford performance Borla resonator that I took. No sound deadening hollow can sound if you tap on it.

Here is the other Borla resonator regardless if it’s the 3” exit or the 2.5”. Sound deadening material inside and sounds like a dull thud when tapped on. You can easily see the openings for that.

^Yupp, ours looked like the borla direct one, In fact, in some videos from behind the car, you could see the resonator packing blowing out of the exhaust tips
