Buyers Remorse...

"You fall in love with the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. You immediately propose and elope. The wedding night, your new bride walks out of the bathroom, removes the wig from her bald head and plunks her false teeth into a glass of water. Then tells you her five kids will be moving in with you along with her mother."
You fall in love with a new 2016 Mustang GT........

Look before you leap (sign).

Sadly my car is affected. I thought I was free of defects but I never looked at the rear bumper.
I hope the dealer doesn't try to back out of this one.

There is nothing wrong with your bumper. The CAD Drawings show it was designed that way. They're all like that. Have no idea why.

Just because they're all like that does not make that right by looking at it to me looks like the paint going to be rubbed off

I have had a similar horror story to most of you hear but multiply it by 2 because both my friend and I bought 5.0s the same day. On December 13th 2015 we walked in to a ford dealership. Found a White and Magnetic 2016 Mustang GT 5.0 Base with Recaro Seats. It was perfect this is everything we wanted and they had it at the dealer close to us. Walk in, talk numbers get great deals, sign the papers and drive off. H

Here is where the horror begins. Get home park it, and first thing I do is make an account here. Start browsing the mods section and the marketplace and then decide to make the fateful decision to look at the warranty and recall thread... First post that comes up is misaligned body panels...... I start to read and instantly my heart sinks... I justify it to myself that most of the cars having the issues are 15s and not 16s like the one I just bought outside..... I wake up the next morning and start to examine my new ride.... Heart sinks even more. Trunk lid misaligned by more than an inch. Rear bumper jammed up against tail light on passenger side causing horrid gap with quarter panel. Front bumper passenger side bulging out and slight hood sag near driver front fender. Enraged I call my friend and tell him of my findings. He looks at his car and what do you know same issues. Thankfully we bought the cars at autonation and have 3 days to return them no questions ask. Drive back to the dealer the next day say give us our money back and hand them the keys. Dealer is furious asking why are we doing this, asking if we think car buying is a joke. We say it is pathetic that we are having these issues on a 30K+ car. They promise us they will fix it at the body shop but we decline because its pathetic that a car needs to go to the body shop from the lot. All in all we got our money back but will never get over how heart breaking it was to see all those issues on a new car. I came from the German Scene VW GTI, VW Golf R, and VW CC and I guess maybe I was expecting to much but for 30K Plus my car better not look like it was aligned by Ray Charles. Car looks great till you get up close and look. Im probably an idiot but we are still browsing to see if we find some 2016s not as messed up but the concept that I have to search around for cars that don't need to go to the body shop is baffling. Terrible Job Ford. Terrible. If any of the Ford Reps on here are willing to make this right and can maybe send me and my friend some Direct Bonus Cash offers id appreciate it. Thanks.

You did the right thing man but don't get your hopes up. If you want a Mustang you're going to have to overlook a lot to be truly happy with it, especially coming from German cars.

Lucky you got out before you had to actually have something serviced, you'd likely be homicidal by then.

Anybody know if there is any play in the tail light assemblies for adjustment? I noticed when put on my Ford Racing panel, my driver side sits a few mm lower than the passenger side.

I must say the whole driver side of my car is where all the flaws are...its fucked up, like who or whatever put that side of the car together was drunk! From the fender to the taillight. The passenger side is perfect...

I put large washers as shims for mine. Play with it a bit. Get ready to pull your Sub-Woofer to access the right side.

Thanks I'll take a look, I don't have the subwoofer so that's one less step for me.

Ace Hardware for different sizes and thicknesses.

Different amount of shims for each stud. A lot of on and offs to get it the way I wanted. Also used small washers as shims on the trunk lid, under the panel to control the bottom at the bumper. Had to hold them in place with tape with a hole punched in it to keep them from flying off every time I moved the trunk lid.

Also used house door stop bumpers and screws and nuts and washers to make adjustable bump stops on the rear most trunk lid hinge to adjust the left and right sides with the fenders. The forward hex bolts on the hinge mechanism can be adjusted up or down to get the trunk lid even with the fenders at the glass.

My car (Ecoboost) replaced a Civic as my economy car. It's a heck of a lot more car for just a little more money than a new Civic, but quality-wise, not in the same ballpark and I doubt it will have the same durability either. 80K miles on the Civic and nothing but tires and oil changes. Drove the Mustang off the lot and then spent 2 months back and forth to the dealer- still not done. I have panel alignment issues but they are fairly minor compared to some of you so I'm not going to bother with them.
