Just looking for opinions on what you feel would make a better daily driver out of the following:

  1. 2018 Mustang Shelby GT350 w/ Electronics Pkg
  2. 2018 Mustang GT Premium 401A, 10 spd, loaed minus PP, but with 20s and exhaust

Troll post or what? Obviously the auto GT Premium makes the better daily car out of those two...Sure the GT350 isn't as bad as a GT350R, but it is still at home revving high not going 30 in the neighborhood.

No troll post at all.

I had purchased a 2018 GT350 and my buddy is deciding on 1 of the 2.

He loves my car but also loves the GT.

Trying to help guide him

I love mine as a dd. A10, with active safely features, 20 package and active exhaust is like having two cars.

I have 30,000 miles on my GT350. It’s a great can but tough to open up on the street, due to the relatively tall gearing. You are at roughly 80 MPH in the top of second gear, so one shift and you’re done if you want to stay remotely legal.

There is also a very large difference between 5th and 6th, so couple that with the reduced torque at the low end, and finding the right gear for cruising 50-70 can be tricky at times.

Th fuel economy is also pretty bad.

However, IMO it rides very nicely, is extremely easy to drive for long distances, sounds amazing, and feels special pretty much all the time. It should hold its value pretty well, due to the special nature of the engine (as long as it doesn’t blow up).

I really liked the regular GT, but not quite enough to buy one. I love the GT350. I do think the regular GT would be the better DD, but I think the GT350 would be an acceptable DD (noting the items I mentioned before) and would be more exciting on special occasions.

For a daily I'd consider a premium gtpp and swap out the rear shocks with something better than stock..

A GT PP is definitely a better DD without feeling like you bought a soft boat. I'd tell him to get the performance pack, no question.

I dd my 16 GT, no it's not an 18 w10 speed trans but, I have put 160 miles on it running up in the Texas hill country and back to the coastal bend. The GT 350 may be a better purchase if not driven so much daily. I've never owned a "better" daily driver than my 16 GT. I did have to put progressive springs on it so it would handle better in the twisty's and that helped my gas mileage from 21 mixed to 23 mixed. Hard to choose, I know.

I would say definitely the GT for a DD. And, contrary to popular belief you don't need the performance package unless it's wanted. The standard suspension makes a very nice riding car for everyday use. We've had GT's for DD's since 2010.

My impression from test driving was that a GT with PP made for a stiffer ride though that was without Magneride. For DD I feel like a GT without PP would probably be enough unless the PP was desired for the track.

I believe that from all reports, the 18 base GT suspension is notably improved, but the 15-17 without the PP is more boaty and poorly controlled than most family sedans. The PP makes it competent.

If he's even considering a GT350, why not a GT/PP2?
