Mine is a daily driver with a 60 mile round trip everyday. With part city and part highway driving, I am get 21.3 mpg in my GT. Gas at $1.39 per gallon helps!!

I think it is a great daily car. I just hate running up the mileage on it. I love keeping it "new".

My 12 and 13 GTs before my 2015 each had between 15-20k miles a year in commuting and travel on them. Both were manuals and not PP cars. I loved them as commuter cars and my current 15 is a daily. I say go for it

DD/commuter here in San Diego. Drive about 38-40 miles RT every day. Driving back and forth to work should be fun & comfortable. We should reward ourselves by having something nice we use 5 days a week or more (depending on job).

The Mustang GT uses a little more gas than my BMW 335i but so far it's more fun to drive and way more fun to listen to. This is a great DD.

No doubt the mustang can be a great DD but remember the wear items and maintenance will cost more along with gas. Also need to factor in depreciation as well. Some people (including me back in the day) could make a little extra $ from mileage reimbursement buy running a cheap reliable car for work purposes.
That's my thought. I drive my Mustang daily but my commute is only about 7 miles each way. If I was driving a few thousand miles each month, I'd be doing some serious number crunching on cost of ownership... gas, tires, brakes, oil changes, insurance, etc.

Good morning,

This is my first post on these forums. I just want to go ahead and apologize now if there is a thread on this subject that I missed while searching because I am sure there is. Little backstory: My 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was deemed a lemon and I am currently in the process of having Hyundai buyback the vehicle from me. During this process, I began to think about what car I wanted to get to replace this hybrid. Here was my thought process...I'm an auditor...not the most exciting career out there but it pays the bills. I didn't want to get into a mundane car, head to a mundane job for hours, then back into that mundane car to head home. There's no fun in that equation. So, for my price range, the Mustang immediately came to the forefront. The problem is, being an auditor, I travel to the clients; whoever they may be for that week. My commutes vary from close (24 miles a day) to unreal (174 miles a day). To put this into prospective, I had my Sonata Hybrid for two months before the engine issue occurred, by that time I had driven 6000 miles.

So my question is, do any of you use this Mustang as your DD or is it your one and only car? And if it is, do you commute as much as me? Or should I just pursue a different car? Keep in mind, MPG doesn't really matter to me because I am reimbursed for mileage at a federal rate.
I live an hour from you in Pennsylvania. I drive my Mustang as my DD and do a round trip everyday of 90 miles. When I think of my ride to and from work, I wish it was further. I'm not getting enough seat time. Since 2014, when I traded my BMW in for a GT premium, I haven't looked back. Now, all the gear heads are coming out of the woodwork. An auditor... Ugh! I totally understand your need for fun. Hang up the accord keys, get a GT and put a Magnaflow exhuast on it. You'll be smiling.

Living in Pennsylvania myself and I think the mustang is a great DD. If I set cruise control to 65 and just relax I easily get 28+ mpg on the highway and I'm averaging 19 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving.

As far as snow goes, I've gone through a few storms where there were 2 or 3 inches of fresh snow on the ground with the stock all seasons and I was fine. Sure, it wasn't easy but I never felt like I was gonna get stuck.

I never understand why people around here look at me like I have two heads when they see my car and ask why I would buy a mustang with our winters. There's maybe five days a year I can't drive and 360 days of fun.

When I throw a good set of winter tires on my car the number of days I can't drive will be even less and if I can't drive then neither should anyone else. I usually find that argument against the car (or any RWD sports car) a moot point.

Hi Andrew and Welcome to the Forum

I previously was a manager for a major Computer company. At different times in the last 20 years my territory covered almost every major city in Florida except for the Panhandle. With the mileage plan I was covered by I would drive from St Petersburg to Jacksonville and back in a day or Miami and back, Orlando or Daytona and back. The Miami trips were @500 miles rt. I can tell you I would have killed to be able drive a car like my 2016 GT on those trips. The ride, the performance, the electronic gadgets would have made my days special. I'm retired now but a couple days ago I found an item I needed on Craigslist, the seller was in Naples and he was surprised I would consider the 240 mile drive to buy a $100 used item. My GT made the trip a real treat. I recently added a receiver to the car and will be making several trips each year to Houston taking my Stratocaster and my Hybrid bicycle with me.

You won't go wrong with an S550 and the mileage will pay half the monthly note for you. :ford:

PS: For the inquisitive readers I was getting $.51 per mile tax free, so would you drive or fly?

I daily my Mustang roughly 15miles to and from work and love driving it. So you'll definitely enjoy driving to work and back much more than the Hyundai. I suggest going for a test drive first though.

My friend also has a Focus ST that I've driven and it's a very fun car and more practical if you need to drive passengers for work sometimes.

I DD my GT and it is also my only car. I drive around 100 km per day. It's very comfortable and I love driving it everyday.

I bought my Mustang knowing full well she'd be my DD

Tomorrow I should hit 10k miles, the only time I wish I had something else was when I tried to have 3 other full sized adults ride with me, otherwise I love every minute with her and contemplate what parts to get when I should be saving :p

Gotcha beat. I work for the city I live in. >4 miles round trip.

I DD mine, although I do have a short work commute. In every other aspect of daily driving, it's been a pleasure. I get my daughter in and out of the backseat regularly, I drive mine in bad weather, she has seen a couple 2 hour(ish) road trips; all without complaint.

Be curious to hear your experiences on your FF build (probably in another thread). I've been thinking of getting a GTM (somewhat difficult) or perhaps 818 (easier) kit.

Best,

Windsor Ontario here, and I daily my GT as well. Driving a good combination of 90km/h for 80 Km's and getting super mileage at about 8.8 l/100, and some good city driving stop and go as well. Terrible mileage in the city....15 l/100..... Maybe 16 l/100. Driven in snow and with winters it's fine. Love the car personally. Hope you enjoy if you get.
