Thanks for the guide and all the input other folks have put in here. Did the mod today and at least for my type of music it make a huge difference when listening at like 20~22 volume. So glad I wont have to get a actual aftermarket sub box in there. I like having my mini cargo space free. Only broke one clip, here hoping that wont cause me issues on the long run? The ring vibrating at that spot? Should I just add some piece of foam to put pressure on it? Would that do anything to the detriment of the sound if I was to add a piece of foam around that plastic ring to keep it from vibrating since one of the clips broke? And I know the picture is wrong. I took it before I noticed that the ring goes on top of the speaker before the screws. Was rushing and skipped a step. Fixed it before I completed the mod.

Great outcome! Just use some 3M auto body trim tape.

If you get a DSP amp plus 400W+ RMS sub amp you will hear a difference at low volumes as well....but that's another $1300 -2K for plug and play like Audison DSP 8 channel amp plus a Kenwood XR1000 monoblock controlled by DSP, for example, just for hardware. With an I data harness it's pretty much plug and play.

I used 2 channels bridged from my Audison to deliver 130W to my sub to start. Then I added the XR1000 monoblock. The transformation was unbelievable. Eliminating the two bridged channels really destressed the amp so volume is way better now

Yeah that be a bit more than I want to chew lol. I drove for an hour today after doing the mod and I think I am pretty happy with the sound I am getting given my eq settings in the car 3 band eq lol

But jokes aside I think it sounds miles better than stock and I am happy with it. I just know If I keep going I will mess something up.

Does anyone know how thick or high these centering or screw reinforcement are?
I have an eye on a sub with 232 mm diameter and guess dremeling away these small protrusions wouldn't be a big deal:

So, over at mustang7g.com a guy finally measured the volume of the original housing - I think I have read the 44 pages of this thread here twice and have not seen someone actually did the water fill test.

So user 2001Vetteman reported:

17.5 liters / 0.62 cubic feet

Maybe @Gregs24 wants to add this to the initial post.
Also on 7g are users who installed the DD Audio Redline SW10 sub, which fitted without any modification except the 12 o'clock lug.
Has a much higher sensitivity and therefore more punch at a price of just $79.

I measured it a year ago. Don’t recall if I posted the results but I had similar numbers.

I have a new Pioneer but just ordered DD since the installer said it fits right in with no mods. I’m hoping the no mods comment included the DD woofers mounting holes line up with the BO box?

Unfortunately the holes will not line up as the DD has 8 vs the original 6.
But you can easily drill some small pilot holes with a diameter slightly smaller than the screws which I believe come with the subwoofer.
No big deal even with two left hands.

Just put some foam tape around the perimeter to plug the old holes, or use them plus the new ones, using foam tape.

You cannot use any more than ONE hole of a six hole pattern for an 8 hole pattern :giggle:

Besides, the bolt circle of the original sub is larger.

The DD Audio Redline is available as dual 4 Ohms as well for those wanting tighter and stronger punch (don't install dual 2 Ohms).
