Rockford upgrade complete. The only modifications were drilling new holes for the speaker and grill, and a thin weather strip around the ring.
Nice tight punchy bass. Same results I had with this speaker in my Focus ST , and Shaker pro in my 16 mustang.

Real world trials beats technical specs every time.
Know what I'm saying????

It's a lot easier drilling the holes in the plastic!
My concern is the new holes are pretty close to the existing ones, which can just crack. And also not sure if it's still thick plastic there (is it?). And if you drill new holes away from those (rotating the sub a little), the letters would be crooked, and the plastic is too thin to securely hold the sub, no?

I used this JL Audio
Looks good, but I'd like to have one just like stock. Is there one just like that but with dual voice coils?

Rockford upgrade complete.
That install looks great. I'd be okay without a grille, but it's better to have one. Did the plastic where you drilled feel sturdy enough for that heavy sub? And why the weather seal? Doesn't it touch evenly all around? Curious about the details of your installation.

Finally, I don't want to change anything else, so the question is if both of those subs (Pioneer and RF) function well enough with the power of the stock amplifier, without causing any future issues? Thank you.

Looks tidy, but doesn't sit inside the recess. How have you filled the gaps at the side where the old trim ring went ? Or is the speaker sitting deeper and the trim ring and grille sitting separately ? As in have you a picture minus the trim ring / grille

As in once you have bought it you need to make it fit one way or another !

The plastic of the enclosure is not brittle and the thickness is not an issue at all. It is a very tough chunk of ABS plastic.

As you can see from the specs nobody makes their speakers the same exactly, even if they are all nominally 10" subs so you will not find an exact replacement - or at least let us know if you do !

Speakers need to be sealed into the enclosure to prevent air leakage - these are sealed enclosure subs.

There shouldn't be any issues with the stock amp. It isn't especially powerful (I have seen suggestions it pushes about 200W peak to the sub) so well within the spec of all these speakers. Speaker damage comes from excess power input, but also a lower power amp clipping when being pushed. The stock amp doesn't clip according to another thread on this site when unmodified, so really shouldn't be a problem.

The RF speaker cage sits exactly into the hole in the enclosure, and it sits snugly into the outer diameter of the recess. I put a weather strip just to make it an air tight seal.

The grill and ring are "floating" above the speaker with 1/2" spacers. I could have easily done without them, but wanted the protection.

As Greg said, There is probably no plug and play drop in solution. At the very least you will need new mounting holes. Plastic is very stout, so no issues with mounting a heavy sub.

Also, I hit it with some poly fill as well.

Did you grind off the ridges (highlighted in red) to get it to sit flush or pad it out with loads of seal ?

Toss a poly fill sheet inside too. May give it more punch. Not sure why or how but it does

No, I did not have to do any dremel work.
The RF has a cast aluminum cage that houses the speaker.
That cage fits directly into the hole, while the mounting tabs fit above the ridges you highlighted. I installed the weather strip (1/2" thick) as you did, but bent it inside the ring also.

It literally dropped right in and seals very tight!y.

Did use a special '1/2" spacer', or it was included with the RF sub? Thx.

I just had some spacers in my saved junk drawer. You can just omit the ring or possibly re use the factory grille.

If you are squeamish about modding it, I would go with the Pioneer that Greg used.

Not 'squeamish', but want it to look as OEM as possible, and not sure I'd be able to achieve that on my own without the spacers included. I'm also not sure about the Pioneer, since I ruined my ring. Need to check again how I'd install the stock grille, which is the way I have it now (with the studs for the 'ring' removed and made flush). This is not a must-do mod for me, so wouldn't have an issue leaving it as is. Thank you for your help :).

We probably need to start a medical thread for one of your problems !

The grille will fit back and you could re fix the trim ring with a few blobs of silicone sealant (you can get black silicone in a tube)
