mobile one 0w40 or 5w50 ether one European blend
Those as well 👍
Catted or Catless.
Rotella for Catless only BUT Rotella T-6 0W-40 is SN rated….. so that’s a game changer.
I Don’t want to go down the oil thread rabbit hole but the OP brought it up.

Most everyone knows these talking points. The coatings were being used in two strokes, GP long before the trickle down happened (about 1980’s, don’t ask me how I know. LOL)
I’d prefer to see actual testing data to the effectiveness of dome coatings. What I’ve seen trending is hard anodizing of the dome and of course DFL skirts.

So here’s a general question for anyone reading this thread; Does the new GT500 have OEM thermal coated piston domes ?

i like using a new block but you can have the cylinders redone now. so there's options. and it's cheaper than sleeves
Who redoes them?

Yeah that's not detonation. Probably a injector malfunction.
Injector worked fine afterwords. Could be a lot of things. All I know was fuel trims were sitting around 30%.

I know you did have an intake leak and I think you said you also had an exhaust leak? That will mess up the fuel trims also

The data is out there and there are more than a few credentialed builders that have spoken to the merits of piston, valve and header coatings. I've done it in many of my engine builds over the years from Harley's (Pan, Shovel, Evo and Twin Cam) to the old school 283's, 302's, 351's, 440's, etc. I've also meticulously painted the interior of blocks.

Diesel manufacturers have done numerous things to handle heat, improve oiling (one of the benefits of painting the interior of the block) and Cummins went further by using a Teflon insert in piston skirts to reduce surface friction to lower heat (among other things) in the engine (this was in their V12-1710 and as I recall, the KT or KTA line).

Stock air box was fine. Couldn’t get the JLT to work right. Although I was pretty sure I died the leak on the JLT. I swapped intakes a million times, could never get fuel trims happy with the JLT.

If it was an exhaust leak it was very minor until whatever happened when the piston melted.

Any Leaking exhaust before the wide band O2 will throw off the reading.
Your 176 mph long hot pull was possibly the beginning to the end …..
