On a race car stripes are ok, non race car lame.
Not, just stirring the pot.

Op, your car, do what YOU like, don’t give a chit about what others think.

If you were asking about smoking cigarettes or playing with rattle snakes, might want to consider others feedback.

Then, again you might not. Remember it is your call.

Yes they are lame. Leave them for the 60 year old 3v owners.

interesting the M1 stripe (if it s even a stripe) doesn't t follow thru. Only on the hood and then on the sides. What am I saying? I don t know. IMO some set ups look good and some don t. Subjective I guess.

I'm arguing the M1 hood treatment isn't a stripe. I believe it's supposed to be a homage to this:

And that treatment, I believe, was meant to reduce the glare of the sun as to not blind the driver (so it should be flat black).
*IF* I bought a newer M1, I'd be redoing the hood like the '69. Much nicer looking, and I assume no one would mistake it for a stripe (and I do like stripes, BTW).
On a final note, this fails miserably:

What were you thinking, FORD???!?!?

Ultimately is your car. The only time I find them lame is when they are on a car that does NOT have them as a factory option. You know, Kias, Camrys, etc. Even then, it's that persons call.

For your car, not at all. Get it back to OEM

Are ALL racing strips lame? HELL NO!

I have wanted a Mustang with "La Mans" stripes since I saw my first Shelby. I know they have sort of became somewhat synonymous with Shelby, but the origins predate the Shelby Mustang, so I say they are fair game.

I say get them done, but if you are going to do it, make sure they are done right.

This right here is pretty much a drop the mic post for this entire thread.

You have a pic?
I do. My 2016 GT with painted Velocity Blue stripes.

Never gave much thought about whether racing stripes are lame but non-racing stripes are awesome.

You say ‘69, but it’s closer to ‘71 in shape and size.

Stripes aren’t my thing either, but if I had to choose, I’d say the single stripe, such as the one shown on the gray Mustang looks better than two stripes by a long shot, as they’re more subtle. Having said that, I think dual stripes have their place on a road course car. In fact, here’s what Wikipedia says about it.

Racing stripes, also called Le Mans stripes or rally stripes, were originally applied to racecars to help identify them in the field during races.
