  1. How do you guys “winterize” your Pony?

Curious about your use of jack stands. I was considering doing the same, but the consensus around here seems to be that you're better off on the tires: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/jack-stands-for-winter-storage.192460/
  2. Jack stands for winter storage?

Thanks for the feedback. There does seem to be a clear consensus. I have had problems with tires flat spotting on my old BMW when I stored it for the winter (wearing Eagle F1s Asymmetrics). I never overinflated them for storage though. I also stored my Mustang last winter on its tires (but did...
  3. Jack stands for winter storage?

I am wondering what the "collective wisdom" around here has to say about the pros/cons of putting your car up on jack stands for winter storage. BTW, I know some will say put on some Blizzaks and drive it, but I have no interest in getting salt and crud all over my car.
  4. Rear Ended, seeking advice

Depending on when your claim was, this kind of makes sense. The used car "bubble" seems to have popped, so I am betting salvage values dropped. Insurance calculates total loss on payout for the total less salvage value vs straight up repair cost. For a while, salvage values were so high, that...
  5. Jacking Rails that do not interfere or block Pinch rails..

I just ordered a set of rails from Steeda too and @pilotgore agreed to help me out with an adapter too (Thanks!!!).
  6. Jacking Rails that do not interfere or block Pinch rails..

I have the same question and was wondering if you came up with a solution to adapt the jack to the rails yet? I just got reminded of the benefit of having a spare when I got flat in my other car late and a long way from home. I could have called roadside assistance, waited for who knows how...
  7. Mid-Engine Mustang to Debut

IMO, a mid-engine two seater is Ford GT, not a Mustang. I love both and both have their place, but for a Mustang to be a Mustang it needs to be front engine/RWD, with 2+2 seating and be reasonably affordable.
  8. Do I really need the Performance Package?

So when I started looking for my car, I wanted MT, convertible, and the performance package. As others said, they are rare, but they are out there and I did find several. One was a color I really didn't want, two others were out of state and the cost to transport would have added even more to...
  9. Are these cylinder head temps high?

Thanks for the info! I agree that there is very little risk of damage. Since there is no info that I can find on what to expect, I was more interested to see how what I was observing compared to others.
  10. Are these cylinder head temps high?

I have been curious about that myself.
  11. Are these cylinder head temps high?

So we have nice cool weather here today, with air temps of about 72 deg. I took the car for a bit of ride and was seeing inlet air temps pretty consistently of 77 deg, occasionally going up to 79. Driving around on more or less level roads, I was seeing CHTs of 198 deg consistently. Climbing up...
  12. Are these cylinder head temps high?

Too rainy and wet for a long ride today, but after about 10 minute drive with CHTs of around 190, the fan was NOT running, so that may be my problem. The coolant temp gauge was right in the middle, like it always seems to be (I wish we had a readout option for coolant temp in addition to CHT)...
  13. Are these cylinder head temps high?

Thanks for all of the feedback!
  14. Are these cylinder head temps high?

The car has about 4,200 miles on it. I bought it about a year ago, but really didn't notice this until a few months ago (but to be fair, I did not specifically look at CHTs before). I will check the fans tomorrow.
  15. Are these cylinder head temps high?

Cooling system has never been worked on (to my knowledge, I bought the car used with 980 miles on it and the service history did not mention any cooling system service). I'll check the fans tomorrow. Any idea about when (what temp) they should kick on?
  16. Are these cylinder head temps high?

I have been noticing what seem like high cylinder head temps. I am not getting any kind of code or warning and everything is running fine, but they seem a bit higher than what others have described for CHTs. Cruising on the highway at about 75mph, I am seeing CHTs of 210-212 degrees with inlet...
  17. CALIFORNIA SPECIAL S550 Mustang Thread

Those are good steps, but in truth, quality needs to be designed in right from the start. I hope they took that seriously when developing the S650.
  18. Found oil leaking onto headers? What causes this? No check engine light.

Just stumbled onto this thread and it's sure bringing back memories for me. Both my '83 and my '89 5.0 Mustangs used to constantly leak oil from the valve covers. Going around and retorquing all the valve cover bolts became a ritual that I would do with every oil change.
  19. Ford Mustang Extended Warranty - $25 over Dealer Cost- PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE!!

I can't comment about a vehicle purchase at Granger, but my experience with them for the extended warranty purchase (using their website) was quick and easy and the price as was great.
  20. Ford Mustang Extended Warranty - $25 over Dealer Cost- PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE!!

You summed up my thoughts nicely here. I am not too proud to admit that many/most of the things that could go wrong with most modern vehicles, particularly electronics related, are beyond my ability to repair myself. I recall as a kid helping my father repair just about everything that ever...
