Im looking at buying this wheel and tire setup but ive heard bad things about the G2s. However im not FI just yet and am only making 470whp/420tq. Regardless im going with these wheels or the SP2s in 20x11/10. These tires will be in 305/35/19 with fronts being 285/35/19. Do you guys think its better to shell out almost $1600 for michelin pilot sport 4s or just run these for the time being til i get a drag pack and boost in 6 or so months??

YES, they are awful. I did the Velgen VF5 setup from LMR and they are terrible tires. If the weather is really warm (ie 80 plus) and you have been driving for at least 50 miles they aren't too bad as long as the pavement is dry. If there is even a hint of rain, look out. My first outing with mine in the rain, every single time I took off from a red light, anything more than 1/4 throttle resulted in wheelspin all the way thru third gear... And corners I had to take at a very very cautious speed.

I would buy just the wheels, have them delivered to a local Discount tire and get some michelin or Continental tires. Just my $0.02.

The G2s i had were not good tires. Very sketchy in the rain. I've been running ContiExtreme Contact Sports as my daily tire and they have been great. Night and day

I hated them. Terrible in dry and rain.

Depends on your goals though. Do you like flooring it a lot? From dig and rolls? Imo probably need a drag radial compound to hook from digs. To hook from a roll a good high performance tire compound will work.

Maybe get some cheap dailys and then get the drag pack for when you really want to hook?

I debated for almost a month. I had black PP wheels on mine from the factory. I agonized forever and started to get these in black. I am SOOO glad I did the gunmetal. They look stunning IMHO. I think Gunmetal would look good on a black car. The murdered out black wheel thing is so over played. Silver or gun metal on black would look killer. Not a fan of bronze except on red personally...

That said I did the 275 35 20 and 305 30 20 in 10/11 wide. Love the look, just not the tires LOL.. Gonna do Conti Extreme contact next time..

Can’t believe there’s judging a tire because how it is in the RAIN…….
You want a rain tire? Buy a Goodyear Aquatread.

I drive in the rain just absolutely fine with my $100 Sumitomo HTR all seasons. They are at 70% tread, and I drive respectively for the conditions. I had a set of 555’s on my last street car and made it home on the rain every time.

The 555G2 is a great tire for the money. As long as you aren’t trying to break road course lap records, 0-60 records, or expecting to accelerate with authority from a stop IN THE RAIN…….
JFC people. Can anyone actually drive anymore????

The 555G2 is a great tire for the money.
there are WAY better tires for same money. :)
plus he lives in Orlando FL which means he gets a significant thunderstorm at precisely 4pm EVERY day.

If you're gonna FI you want MORE sidewall, not less.

Yeah for dailying i hardly ever floor it from a stop mostly rolling. I think everyone has let me know not to get the G2 🤣 i just cant fathom $500 a piece for the rears for pilot sport 4s. Ive heard a good things about continentals though. Not sure if they are much cheaper

Ive looked into these they are about $120 cheaper each tire in 305 than the PS4s

The g2s just suck in the rain too.

I don't know how long the MPS4s last. They are a better compound than the mpss but my mpss only lasted 12k miles.

But the best bet for you might be to buy some summer tires that are cheap like the G2 but a little better overall. Then save the money for the drag pack.
