Archetype Racing - My Experience

Welp, i was with curtis from the early days…..i went through the 18-24month promises…i bought everything …..helped fund his diffuser project with 2 other people, i was one of the first to get the wing…. When i stopped being a parking lot warrior, that 90% of this forum are….. and actually started racing at real tracks at 140+mph, i saw the massive short comings of archetypes designs. Curtis is a good dude, i liked him, but if i had a problem or something didnt look right, i was told its my fault. (everyone knows what im talking about thats dealt with him.

I came to warn all about the archetype dangers only to be quieted by the hot dog riders on here. There are a lot of people embarrassed to come out and expose him because they're embarrassed.

that being said, if anyone wants to buy my diffuser, its for sale and modified correctly. i’ll be selling it pm me at a premium since you cant get them anymore.

if you aren't running AJ’s stuff…..then we know what type of person you are, go park your car at the local car meet with your garbage signature rims and car which hasn’t seen more thsn 1/2 throttle.
i mention 5.0 deep because he is friends with him and pushed his brand at the risk to track safety

I actually got shadow banned over on the Bronco6g forums for asking too many questions. The number of “hotdog riders” (I’m stealing this term lol) that would come out of the woodwork to shutdown any negative conversation was super weird and they were oddly aggressive about it. I have no evidence to back this statement up but it made me think these were either alternate accounts or people that had invested in the business.

I can’t speak about the 50 deep guy, I’ve not had any interaction with him nor used any of his products.

I do get the impression that Curtis knew he was closing up shop, yet kept taking orders and not actually making anything for several months. It’s also more than a little suspicious that he’s still posting videos to IG with a new f450 dually (platinum trim?), Ferrari, and some other stuff.

If anyone knows the real story on what happened with him, I’d honestly be interested to hear it. Right now the whole thing smells of embezzlement and defrauding customers/investors.

Billy johnson beat him down enough in the carbon brakes thread anyways. dont get me started on the amount of real track racers whose signature rims bent and/or finish started peeling away after 3 teack days. Thats a reason they moved away from motorsports and only to street….i commend them for trying.

this thread is all over the place. I’ll add some context where I can and provide education as well.

When Archetype first released the front splitter and wing for the GT500 my car was the first to have it. Helped with fitment testing and tracked my car at Sonoma. Made recommendations on what to change and things that did not work. Had no issues with the components and it looked dang good. However, I am not at the track every weekend trying set records. When I sold my car there had been no known failures or otherwise. If that stuff happened to other owners in more serious track conditions it was well outside of my hands and long after my car was sold.

In terms of wheels being bent that’s part of racing. Signature Wheel cars have set lap records, been over 200mph, won 24 hr endurance races, and set/hold records for some of the fastest drag racing cars.

At the track once you get fast and start running rumble strips at speed no grade of aluminum will last indefinitely, or be able to tolerate impacts from a 4000 lb car on a 30 series tire. The reason you see spec cars eating up rumble strips is because they have an 18” tire with a 40+ series side wall to absorb impacts. You can’t do that on your street car and expect nothing to break. However we have seen guys wreck and the wheels never failed, which allowed them to get off the track safely and prevent further damage to themselves or their cars.

Along that line of thinking we instituted a lifetime 50% replacement program and still offer a 3-year structural warranty because we know what happens out there when you’re trying to go fast.

I’ve seen every track wheel out there get bent. But if that’s the type of racing you do, then a cheaper wheel option might make sense. There is also a natural reduction in the money people will invest in their cars as they drop value or get sold to second hand owners. Typically they have less money to spend and look for cheaper options. It’s how the automotive market works and a financial decision, nothing to do with the quality of what I build. We still have plenty of track clientele and options that increase stiffness/rigidity like our Signature Reinforced Architecture.

Hopefully that helps, but it’s unfortunate to see folks not having received their parts. I sent a link from this thread to Curtis a while back, but I don’t know much about the inner workings of Archetype or how it’s being managed today.

I didn’t defend Terrance or signature wheels in the least, I called you out for bashing a forum vendor without actually tagging him (something you should easily know how to do as a 5 year member with over 1000 posts). And this is a public forum, I’ll participate wherever I see fit, regardless of your red herring fallacy argument of which lane I belong in. EVERY track wheel bent….thats not true in any light…..i have apex, forgelines, apex forged….. the only rims ive seens coatings come apart or wear away are signatures. The only bents ive seen, are signature And apex NON forged. I am the voice of my region for people who dont come to 6g. The only reason i even came back was getting dm’d on instagram since i was heavily involved with curtis On my gt350.

your rims are awesome for street use….but i have had a couple sig customers have negative experiences and get blamed it was their fault by you when other wheel manufacturers stood behind their products In the exact same scenarios.

Placed a $9k+ order back in January. Received the splitter only after MONTHS of waiting (which was junk on the track), then started asking for a refund a couple months back after the dissapointment with the splitter & reading about the wing failures. Anddddd no replies (still owe $6k+ worth of parts). Now they have "folded", and since the order was placed so long ago & the fact that there is no contact available anymore the credit card company has declined a charge back.

The experience from the very start (after placing the order of course) has been awful. The red flags were everywhere. This "good guy" knew exactly what he was doing.

For the record I had a conversation with the owner of the detail shop that is now in the place of Archetype. He does know of Curtis but was completely unaware of the current financial situation. I don't believe he has any direct ties so don't want to steer any negativity his way.
