People who have an Apr front splitter, where did you mount hardware and place the rods? Has anyone done anything to not have to use the splitter rods?

I have the SBS GT-350 style splitter that we kind of co-designed. I say co-designed loosely as I asked them to cut out a splitter with the GT-350 shape and they did all the work making it. And have not used rods since installing it in 17’. I couldn’t see bolting splitter rods to the plastic bumper as many have done. At Mustang Week I came across https://c2aero.com/ and he has a setup that bolts to the bumper and that would be much better. Plus, he’s in Raleigh only a few miles away.

If i can meet up with him to see if he’s figured out where to drill the pass through holes for the splitter rods I may go this route.
I did have the fender droop on one side and have installed a quick latch. The other side is ok. I would blame that on the downforce of the splitter but being a common problem I can’t say it did it. Adam at C2 makes and sells splitters and all kinds of hood vents and aero, you might try checking with him.

How do you have it mounted? With the Apr I took it out for about 20 mins and didn’t get over 70 and it already started to create a gap between the bumper and the splitter in front. How do you keep if from warping?

my splitter mounts with the lower belly pan and factory spoiler mount screws. SBS provided longer screws. I haven’t had any gap issues. One thing to consider, if you have a Performance Pack car the factory belly pan has ducts for brake cooling. Some splitter manufacturers don’t account for this. That was the deciding factor for me getting SBS instead of the Steeda splitter.

I was able to drill into the bottom of the steel bumper and fish a nut into the back side. It only took a few small notches in the bottom grill and I think underside of the bumper to pass the rods through.

Did you purchase extended rods? Also have you guys seen this way? Just wondering how I would fabricate it to copy the setup. Not talking about the sides but just the front rods and support

I used Fully Torqued Racing rods. Top quality. That is @Flyhalf car/profile. He is generous on answering any questions. I reached out to him before I did mine also

I'm guessing they extended the brackets down because of how low the splitter sits. If they were solid to the crash bar they would come out high un the bumper. Mine is the ZL1 addons Splitter and I'm going to extend me rods 1" in the spring with Aluminum threaded standoffs. It up about 3^ right now but with A slightly longer rod I should be able to push it down at least 3^

10-11.75 inches. Next time I’ll go another inch.

did you have to go through the bumper at all? Trying to figure out a way that will avoid having to drill through anything to get to the bash bar.

I hard mounted mine to the crash beams of the front subframe so no rods needed.

It was a trial and error process over the course of a few track days but I'm very happy with the results.
