The interior is the most appalling rattle box I've ever sat in. I don't even like letting anyone ride in it. It's embarrassing and unacceptable for a $20k car, let alone the prices we pay for these cars.

The driver seat is uncomfortable. No matter what I do, I'm constantly readjusting. I can sit in my 04 Mach 1 and drive hours on end. This thing has me hurting in minutes.

The transmission won't allow a fast shift. This is supposed to be a sports car. What a joke.

The gears in the transmission were chosen by someone with down syndrome. The only good gear is 1st. All the others are too long, except 6th where you want it!

The engine sounds like it's getting ready to self destruct.

E.T. is constantly trying to phone home, or do whatever the hell it's doing, which is always running my damn battery down.

The trunk lid drags when I open it.

The paint is a thin as they could've possibly applied it and will etch at just the thought of getting bird shit on it. Yes, my car is ceramic coated and done frequently. Doesn't matter. The clear they use is garbage.

Multiple recalls in just two years of ownership. And for a car that was built for 7 model years before mine rolled off the line, you'd think things would be square by then? Ha! Not at ford. They'll repeat the same problems again and again and drag the already disappointed customer back into the stealership over and over, like our time is worthless.

They put a tracking device in the cars and then sell that data to insurance companies every time you go around a corner too fast, or hit the brakes too hard, or hit the accelerator too hard. Yes, I've de-fused the situation. But still. Fucking really?

The list just goes on and on. I'll stop for the sake of OP's thread.
Ah, yes. You just reminded me to disable the tracking device. For anyone else who wants to do that, at least on the 2022 Mach 1, the tracking router is mounted in front of the driver's tail light. Pull the carpet away and it's there...

Wow sorry to hear that. Thanks for the reply.

How in the world did you not figure any of this out on the test drive...

You can't get comfortable driving it, but you bought the car?

The gear ratio was selected by someone with down syndrome, but you bought the car?

It rattles so bad you're embarrassed, but you bought the car?

The engine sounds like it was trying to self destruct, but you bought the car?

The trunk lid drags when you open it, but you bought the car?

You must have had the salesman of the year to get duped on this one...

I wish Honda could build a Mustang.
That would be awesome if Honda could build something that great. If they would even build a rear wheel drive car with a manual transmission and a power to weight ratio in the ballpark of a Mustang GT I would applaud them.

No way would they put a V8 in it, and I doubt they will ever even build a decent RWD car again. Remember, they charged Corvette money for the S2000 with only a little 4 banger. If Honda tried to build a Mustang it would probably cost $150K.

I ask myself this all the time, seriously. I literally got out of my 2015, test drove my 2020, noticed some differences and thought "eh, of course it's a little different, I'll figure it out" and bought it. I'm not joking, it's a legitimate regret of mine. Enough that I fantasize about selling it and buying another fox body again... morn for me!

That happened to me with a 1997 Toyota Tercel. Hated it. Bought it due to brand loyalty. Sold it at a loss to buy a Tacoma.

You should test drive a GR86. Somewhat similar to a Fox. It makes a little more power than a Fox and weighs about 600 lbs less, but it's in that ballpark of speed. If you are really driven by panel fitment and interior quality you might like it more than a Mustang.

I liked mine, but not enough to keep it more than a year. I didn't trust that flat 4 or Toyota were the main reasons.

The issues were not apparent when I test drove it with the salesman running his mouth the whole time and trying to navigate in Dallas traffic at the same time. Also, I was coming out of a Honda civic, the gear ratios were masked by an extra 350hp. Understand? Do you work at ford, or just like defending them? Because I can guarantee they wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

Wow, these cars are absolute pieces of $hit. How did we all get duped into buying such junk? And some of us have been duped multiple times. 🤦‍♂️ (sarcasm, for the record)

I’ve had 2 S550’s. No squeaks or rattles. Yeah, the coyote is noisy, I’ve heard worse though. Maybe I had 2 unicorns but no real issues as far as panel gaps go. Yeah the paint is a bit thin, so are plenty of other brands. My biggest beef is that a calculator screen from 1975 was the base screen for the entire S550 generation. Ford was definitely behind the times there, IMO.

The reality is, a lot of brands have declined in quality unless you start paying well into the 6 figures. $hit, my brother in law’s C8 has a few weird rattles, my parents CT4-V has paint about as thin as my Mustang’s. You can find flaws with any car out there, find reasons to actually want to buy the damn thing and don’t sweat the rest. Most of the warts are fixable (paint not as much).

Knock on wood, my Bullitt has been near flawless thus far. More reliable than the 4 German cars I've had so far. Build quality isn't really worse either. There isn't a performance car out there that doesn't have its issues. Comes with the territory.

As for the sound, mine is pretty loud when cold. Just drive it. Nothing is likely to happen.

(and which only seem to be the case in Ford engines as far as I know). I'm a Honda guy, so these noises make me very disappointed .

How does being a "Honda guy" matter? The Honda reliability balloon defalted long long ago. 😁

-Of the top 20 most "problem prone" vehicles from NHTSA data Since 2001 to today. Honda holds 6 spots. #2, #5, #6, #11, #12 #20. It's Civics/Accords of varying years. Of those the most common reported problems. Engine Transmission and Brakes. Ford not far behind with 5 spots.(Fuck you early 2000s Explorer)

-Honda recalled the most units in 2023(followed by Ford)

-And just in the past 10 days Honda issued 2.4 million new recalls. And will likely sneak into the top spit again 2024.

-list goes on but I'll stop here.

The stats can be toyed with and rephrased to give slightly different outcomes. But the real outcome is this: Either a Ford is as good as Honda now or Honda is as Bad as Ford now 🤣

Either way the numbers suck for both sides.

My rant is inspired by infuriatingly unreliable Honda Accord commuter car. Rant over. Proceed 🤪

Not to get too off topic, but I’m starting to car shop for my son who turns 16 in spring 2025. He likes the looks of the Civic hatchback but I’m leery as I too see them show up on the naughty lists. Not that any car is infallible but I was quite surprised to see the amount of Hondas that have pretty major issues (engine & trans)

Unfortunately the dealer will do nothing unless it's blown up. I hate that's the way it is but it's the unfortunate reality lol
Had a customer come into my dealership with a completely stock gen3 car. Chucked a rod out the bottom of the oil pan. Dude said he was cruising on the freeway. I have a feeling he has a technique to blow the engine so he can get warranty haha

I’ve had good luck with Honda but nothing surprises me anymore, sadly.
What is wrong with the civic?
I've got a Fit and it has some interior knocks/clicks and my front suspension has some very noticeable knocks when going over any kind of bumps on the road which started recently. It almost sounded like worn ball joints but I verified the ball joints are solid and fine. So, I've concluded it's the upper mount as the other potential cause, sway bar links, are fine. My GT is great with absolutely no noise suspension-wise and the engine is quiet per se. You can hear the DI noise but other than that, it's fine. I guess my GT is defective in that it's not making those noises "everyone" complains about.
