I posted this in the order thread but I figure this is more appropriate place to ask this question. Does anyone know where Ford will put the radar system for the ACC/Collision Mitigation system for the Mustang? I assume no one knows for sure but how about other Ford models? Do they tuck them out of sight - behind the grill? I'm just worried they alter the exterior to fit the radar. Like this Honda Accord with ACC - which sticks out like a sore thumb.

Or the 2014 Impala. Which admittedly looks better than the Accord but still sticks out.

Will the aesthetics be that important to you. You may have to wait to order one until you see one in person.

Sorry - should've shown a comparison. It's the big black pieces that flair off the logo. Chevy did a good job making it look stylish.

With ACC:

I know we won't know for sure how Ford will do it on the new Mustang until later. I was wondering where Ford put the ACC radar on their other models.

I am curious as well, as I plan to get this option. I was looking at numerous pictures and I don't see anything, so maybe they have't fitted it to any of the pre-production units they've had at the shows yet? I thought the 50th LE models have all the options, including the ACC? I cannot see it in any of the pictures. I'm betting it will be in the bottom grill, which will pretty well hide it. Especially since the 50th package has the corral grill so I would think the ACC would be better to put in the bottom grill.

Save yourself from the arguments going on in the 50th threads about ACC being standard or not lol.

I wouldn't blow the money on ACC. I read a good article on it and about it in city driving and basically since it keeps you at a good safe distance, another car will then move in front of you and then your ACC will sense it and then push you back even further, cycle repeats, etc. I think people are throwing their money away with ACC but that's just my2cents

RSW should be on all premiums but like the poster said above, have we all gotten lazy? We have rain sensing already...it's called your eyes. :D
Actually, the ACC on North American Fords including the Mustang automatically deactivates at 12 mph. It's not intended for use in urban driving.

Pakman I think You have solved a mystery that no one has been able to answer. We have already seen the front sensors for the Adaptive Cruise Control on Several Cars. It Explains the Different Lower Grills seen on both GT's and Eco-Boost cars. All Mustangs with the Adaptive Cruise Control will get the Lower Grill like the one we've seen on the 50th Anniversary with the Horizontal Bar and Blanked Off Outer Ends (much like the Impala Grill you posted)

Mustangs without Adaptive Cruise Control will recieve Model Specific Lower Grills.

GT's will get the Honeycomb Grill with the "Fangs" continuing in the Lower Grill like this...

Eco-Boost and V-6 Models will get the "Wavy" Honeycomb Lower Grill to match the Upper.

Wow great observation! Thanks for putting together those photos! :clap2:

Yes...I think it's been standard for the last decade or so

Finally. I've been wondering what the different lower grills were for. Makes sense. Thanks.

ACC is a great feature once you use it you will never go back. And the collision mitigation may save you. Have you ever looked away for a split second in stop and go traffic and almost hit someone? Car is always watching and won't let it happen. Low speed of course. Doesn't help if your doing 60 and come upon stopped traffic. Both features have been on Volvos for a few years. I used to run a Volvo store and made a video. Keep in mind this was 2011 when there were very few cars w ACC.

That is really neat! I'm a tech junkie so I was just excited as you were in that video..lol...thanks for sharing. My questions are, though:

1. Will ACC work all the way to a stop like that? Someone above mentioned it was only 12mph and above in US?

2. How well will this work with a manual transmission? I'm surprised it will actually be offered with a manual, but I'm glad it is!

Well, that sucks. I didn't really think I wanted ACC in my 2015, but I did kind of like the rain-sensing wipers. I didn't want to get the package just for the wipers, so I left it off the order. Mostly because I was trying to keep the x-plan price under 40k. Now I'm wishing I had gotten it.

Thanks to your damn video JDStangCA. :p

I'm glad someone found some pictures of the AAC to see what it looks like. I actually ran into Pakman at the dealer today and we were trying to figure out what it looked like on other cars. I think after seeing the pictures I'm defiantly not getting it.
