The S650-hate is pretty ridiculous. Just like the S197 fanboys, the “S550 is peak Mustang” crowd will hold onto their misguided opinions until they wise up or die off.
S650 is the first mustang that is not tunable on day one. The car phones home to Ford and will report any tampering (I believe Sync 4 or post-2019 Gen 3s do this too?). The car is heavier and stock for stock is a dud. S550 vs s197 was a monumental improvement in handling capability, engine ability, and overall design/comfort.

S650 is a Gen 3.5, not a whole new generation.

And with a MASSIVE price increase.
2014 GT Premium MSRP - $35,510
2015 GT Premium MSRP - $36,925

idk...seems pretty reasonable to me for all that was improved...

edit: responded to the wrong person!

the newest Jetta has this with the higher trim level and it is beyond cool. Lots of configuration options …. The coolest new car tech I’ve seen in a while.
Just wait. VW has the worst electronics. I have had 3 that were buy backs because of electrical issues. My last one, a 22 Atlas also would have been a buy back but when the market went crazy I sold it for than I paid for it.
I have nothing against VW, obviously I keep giving them a chance and buying them, but I have finally learned my lesson. I just don’t understand why I’ve never had an issue with any Audi products and I have owned 15 or so.

I’d bet this will be over way before that happens.

There's nothing the S650 has or does, that the S550 doesn't already do, or the aftermarket can't make it do.
Right. I would not mind if my S550 had come with the following S650 goodies:
- charging port next to the rear view mirror
- wireless carplay
- hood struts
- (that’s it)
And the first two, I already solved via aftermarket. For the struts, I’m still debating whether I really care that much.

when ford makes a mustang that is 800 lbs lighter than its current incarnation I'll be impressed.

Keep on hating folks. I am just glad we have a 2024 Mustang and I am sure its going to mature into a badass. True the way it stands right now, I have 0 intentions of getting one over my M1 I love this car way too much.

Regarding the IPAD screens. Go look at all the other manufacturers, ipad screen is now the norm deal with it.

Don't even get started with the pricing. Junk trash cars are starting in mid to high 20s nowdays......

this kind of "i'm happy because at least we get some edible scraps" mentality isn't something we share. when ford does bad im harder on them because i like ford.

this isn't hate for the sake of hate as you would suggest as evidenced by the fact that you admit you'd never swap your 550 for a 650 as things are right now.

thanks for sort of admitting you were wrong.

I've been on this forum for a couple years now and what I've learnt is just how shitty the S550 is. The stock suspension sucks, the wheel hop is terrible, the brakes fade way too fast, the panel fitment is awful, the cheap plastic in the interior, the crap sound system, the tail panel scratches too easily, the cylinder heads run too hot, they burn too much oil, the lug nuts are crap, the shark fin antenna is ugly, the BBQ tick ruins the driving experience. Thank god nobody is forcing us buy that updated model.

guys, last night i had this horrible dream. it felt so real. I just can't even describe it any other way.
i dreamt that i traded my s550 in on an S650.... and it even had the light interior.
WTF is wrong with me and how do i make it stop?
You just might want to stop drinking that cheap wine.

While I don’t disagree they could have done some things better, the flip side is they could have done what GM and Stellantis did (kill it altogether). Let’s see what a mid-cycle refresh looks like, hopefully it solves some of the issues.

Pricing is what it is, unfortunately. No different than anything else right now, hopefully inflation gets under control and the price hikes slow down (newsflash, prices aren’t going to go down and if they do, there’s larger economic problems at work).

I jump over on 7G every now and then and Ford appears to be somewhat active over there. Hopefully they’re taking notes on what is needed for a refresh as I do want S650 to be successful so there’s an 8G to look forward to down the road. I’d hate to see Mustang go the way of the dodo 🦤

I’ll be honest. I had a Black 2014 GT500 fully loaded with the glass roof. I got rid of it when I had a chance to get my 2015 GT350. I was sad when I someone else drive it away from me, but the GT350 had a lot nicer ride. I since bought a 2020 GT350R Heritage and 2022 GT500 Heritage.

As awesome as those three S550’s are, it still haunts me that I don’t have the 2014 GT500. As brutal and antiquated as it felt side by side with the S550, I still miss a LOT about it…

I imagine it would be worse with a S650. I checked out a Dark Horse at my local dealer and the screens were information overload. I’m a tech guy and even I was like, what the hell is all of this? There’s so much going on its borderline distracting.
Appreciate the hands on review there …. I was actually wondering.

Maybe for a change one day I’ll add the digital dash to mine.

... it's interesting different experiences.

02 Golf sold at 300,000 kms no electrical issues.
03 Jetta TDI sold at 280,000 kms no electrical issues
09 TDI sold at 165,000 kms no electrical issues
09 2.5 Jetta sold at 290,000 kms changed drivers door electrical harness.

Odd how it can be hit and miss...

As the S550 platform ages, all you folks will jump into the S650 as it matures into a new badass.
With that hello kitty interior.. I don't think so.

It really is hit and miss, but also believe the Dealers working on the car somehow have something to do with the issues. The only one I owned with zero issues was a last gen Golf R, never had anything wrong, but the others all left something to be desired.
