No you have the right to make your new car look new again. You already have a weather claim and I'm sure it's already over a 1,000 paid by insurance. My car had $16,000 in work done and besides the trunk lid getting repainted next week the car was returned to new or really better as I find more wrong with the factory work and not my body shop guy's work. They where nice enough to wet sand and buff the whole car so really it has very little orange peel. Really did a top notch job besides the trunk lid that looks good in most lightly but has bubbles from wiping before applying clear coat that sticks out in some lighting. And no blending off any paint all clean panel paints.Ok, got my car back this afternoon. As a whole in comparison to how it looked before repairs, it looks great.
With that said .... Here's where I could certainly use some fellow member insight.
I couldn't get a great look at the car since it had a lot of pollen on it at the shop. I got it home and wiped it down in my garage. I have two long florescent ceiling lights in my garage I used to go over it with (using angles). I've been able to pick up anywhere from 10-30 small dimples in the paint. These aren't big dents or anything like pre-repair, but they certainly weren't on the car when it was purchased. 1K on the odometer at time of storm. I'm making my first payment on the car today.
I've never had PDR done on any of my previous vehicles. Am I being over-critical? I asked my buddy if he could see anything and he couldn't but he was never trained in detecting flaws like I was when I worked in insurance. Also, the shop was quick to throw out that "You'll never be able to tell anything happened to it." when I was having the estimate done and dropping it off.
I could certainly use as many bits of insight as possible? I'm at least waiting until tomorrow before I call the shop back since I have a few "car guy" buddies at work I wanna bounce this off of as well.
The reunion of my car and I is mostly sweet, but there's still some bitterness mixed in there.
