couldn't you use a Control Audio Control LC2i and have the rear two speaker wires taped and going into it prior to the Amp?

Why would you ever use an external LOC if

1. you have a perfect signal between the ACM and the stock amplifier that you can tap into with a really cheap T harness?

and

2. almost every powered sub (and almost any amplifier that i know of) on this earth has a LOC already built into it?

Thanks. I thought someone said our 9 speaker Amp has an Aux Sub out signal coax output? If not I will tap into a primary speaker wire up front.
**NOTE: Every place like crutchfield said if I tap into a speaker wire other than a Aux Sub signal wire I would need a LOC with the 1000 -1500 watt one channel 2 ohm amp like JLs Fosgate etc?

Well… in the 9-speaker setup you have a perfect variable line level signal, so please do it right, get or build a t-harness and grab the signal before the amplifier. Schematics are in this subforum. There even is a dedicated thread on how to integrate without using a LOC.

Just curious, would it be beneficial if I upgraded my 9 speaker system by replacing the 2 front door 6.5 woofers with some kicker KS and changing the 3.5 midranges to kicker KS’s as well? I heard that in the 9 speaker setup the 6.5’s in the door just play bass and the midrange + A pillar tweeter do the rest. So theoretically the kickers should sound alot better than stock even with stock amp? Also one of my 6.5s broke so when I moved the sound balance to the front right it confirmed that the speaker just plays bass because it sounded fine but without the bass of course.

(i chose the kicker KS for the door because it seemed to be one of the better bass-y 6.5 speakers and I get a pretty good discount on it)

I'm under the impression that running anything other than stock while running a stock amp will cause any speaker upgrade to eventually blow....I'm now stuck on what a complete system should safely be.

Humm? Never heard of that. I replaced my 4 each door speakers and the rear two deck speakers and disconnected the front center dash speaker and added a separate bass speaker. I did not replace the A-Pillar tweeters. My system Sound great.Good Luck

As long as you maintain the same final ohm rating as stock you shouldn’t have any problems.

Also, don't play the system so loud that it's going into clipping levels. No matter how good the speakers are, if the amplifier is continuously driven to the point that the AC peaks of the waveform have become DC plateaus, the voice coil will eventually fry. If people play the system within it's limits it will be ok. Just don't expect concert level performance from a cheap OEM amp.

Hey Doug, do you mind telling me what speakers you bought and anything else to keep in mind? I'm trying to replicate what you did.

Hey Doug, do you mind telling me what speakers you bought and anything else to keep in mind? I'm trying to replicate what you did.
Due to my Mustang being a Performance vehicle and not a Luxury vehicle I didn't
go to crazy with my speaker selection. They work nice.
NOTES:
1: Disconnecting the front Center Dash Speaker Hands down made a Huge difference in sound quality at high volumes.
2: Punching holes in the rear deck panel to allow the air flow/sound from each rear deck speaker to come through unobstructed from my rear deck panel, made a Huge difference in the sound you hear coming from the rear deck speakers.
Good Luck
3: If you use the 3-1/2 Infinities, you will have to trim the door panel some to clear the speaker connectors, fit proper or solder the wires onto the speakers. So research your speakers to see which way you want to go with the 3-1/2. I am sure they have ones which do not require trimming but I just went on and trimmed and then applied rust preventative metal coating to the bare areas I trimmed.
4: I also install a custom enclosure which fits perfectly in the trunk forward space which has dual 12" Dual voice coil, Comp Speakers and 1200watt amp it was way to overboard.
BUT: This was absolutely way, way to much bass for me so I am going to remove and install the JL Single 12" Bass woofer enclosure.
Good Luck
