Looks like the new GT500 got the 18's viscous damper (or one similar to it). Interesting indeed!

I have elected to NOT install OPG's on my 18 TT car. No dyno yet, but its trapped 144mph so its right around 800whp.

No issues yet.
Should mph higher at 800 wheel

Actually 144 mph is about right for a 800 whp car.Mine made about 770 whp and runs 143 mph in the quarter.Weighed 4050 pounds with me in it.

Ive seen a few people say the 18 and up has the same opg that the gen 2 has. I just checked the ford catalog and ford uses a completely different part number for the gen 3 opg vs. the gen 2.

The oil pump housing is different, the gears are the same.

I think we a lot of failure in these components because of how much of a beating these engines get. If u have a stock engine with a blower and ping it off the rev limiter do a bunch of hard pulls theres no way stock components are gonna survive long including the OPG. I also have a theory that the strain of the topmount SC kits putting additional stain on the crank.

1000whp on a blower here, stock OPG/CS. You don't need them unless youre bouncing your stuff off of the rev limiter.
