Initially I was not planning to upgrade OPG and TG, my plan was to go with the Whipple warranty instead. However, after recent events which occurred a week or so before my SC install, I decided to go ahead and swap out OPG/TG so I would not have to worry about this issue going forward. I know the Whipple warranty would provide some financial piece of mind, should OPG failure occur, but to be quite honest - I just didn't want to go through the experience of a damaged engine. OPG/TG replacement cost me more money up front but it pays off on every WOT rip! Worth every penny in my opinion...
Shop that did my FRPP (Roush) Phase 1 did not think it was needed for a street car. I chose to spend the money on the upgraded Roush warranty that covers a lot more than the OPG. Hopefully, I won't have to test how user friendly Roush warranty service is........
Not sure if directed toward my comment but I was simply sharing the choice I made. If I spent +/- $1,500 to have an OPG/TG set put in and then break a half-shaft, is the OPG/TG installer going to fix it? I chose to spend $995 for warranty that covers the OPG/TG, Engine, Transmission, Drive shaft, Differential, Half Shafts, etc.....
If I am proven to have made a bad choice in the future, I will be the first to admit it.
I have Boundary OPG and MMR CS. Cost me an extra 2 hours labor since I already had the blower on my car when they were done. Either way, a little piece of mind for the 1/2 mile passes I have done and will be doing in the car.
