I'm saying we downloaded the FP tune to the laptop, uploaded it to the car, and the last logs on the FP tune showed that in boost there was no added fuel or ignition timing pulled out. The FP tune also destroyed the stock file and locked the computer. If Eric Brooks at HP Tuners hadn't been...
Btw I want to give a huge thanks and shoutout to Eric Brooks at HP Tuners for personally unlocking my ECM and uploading a stock tune file to it after the FRPP tune locked my ECM and destroyed the original stock file.
I'd have to go back through my receipts but if you do a search for my posts, I know I posted the cost. I wanna say the crate engine was $3,200 and $2,500 to instsll? I almost ordered a built longblock with upgraded turbo but I just couldn't bring myself to stick that kinda money into the car...
Nope, I paid out of pocket for a new Ford crate engine. The worst part was waiting 6 months for the new engine to arrive due to being on backorder forever. If it'd been a 5.0, I could've had a new crate engine in less than a week.
Oh well, lesson learned and the family cruiser got a new engine.
A couple pics of the carnage. It turned out to be a bad Ford Performance tune (boost/fuel) from the logs. New crate engine is in and stock tune flashed back in.
I didn't try to get it warrantied. I'm having the shop that does my builds put a new crate motor in it. With the aftermarket intercooler installed, I didn't want to get into a long drawn out battle with Ford to have it replaced.
I had the new crate motor ordered and it'll go in when it arrives. I don't feel like going through battling to get it replaced under warranty with the aftermarket intercooler installed and I definitely don't have the free time to deal with it. It's just easier for me to write the check and...
Less than 100 miles later on the tune, the car threw two rods out at 2/3rds throttle in 3rd gear after leaving a stoplight on the way to get ice cream with the family. The car surged/bucked/stuttered and then white smoke. I knew what had happened when I heard the metallic clanging .
I ordered...
Just flashed the tune today so all my mods are now on the EcoVert. After the flash, we took the car out and the shop logged some pulls. AFR looks good and the car definitely spools up a lot faster. The car has a tank of Sunoco 93 in it and is still learning the octane values as it felt like it...
Evidently it makes a noticeable difference on our EcoVert. We picked up the car from the Performance shop that does our cars tonight and they put the factory strut tower brace that came on my GTPP on the vert (wouldn't fit on the GTPP with the Whipple). She called me on the drive home and said...
I was really hoping for the Lund tune with Ngauge because he did a great job on my GT's dyno tune but I'll be content with the Ford tune. At least now the fake engine noises from the stereo will be gone.
Everything is on the car at the shop and I expected it to be dyno tuned today. I got a call saying Lund won't do the remote dyno tune so I told them to do the Ford Performance parts tune on it.
Most of the guys I know locally that were into EcoBoosts have traded into S197 or S550 5.0's as I also traded in my Livernois built SHO in when I ordered my GT. There comes a point when you're money ahead to just go to a faster platform. I will say if our EcoVert pops the motor, I'll put a...
Ok guys, here's what the shop and myself came up with for the car...
K&N panel filter
Airaid intake tube/factory airbox
CVF intercooler
Lund racing dyno tune on 93 with Ngauge
Once all the parts are in, I'll drop it off for the upgrades.
