I have a 2018 gt with the plastic oil pan. It developed oil leaks around the bolts so was replaced under warranty. I even paid for new OEM pan in case the original was bad. Now 18 months later it is leaking around bolts again. How involved is it to replace the pan as I am thinking of going it on my own and using an aftermarket metal pan?

You cant remove the pan without either pulling the engine, or dropping the K member.

It is but if you're going do this job you're going to remove an obvious obstacle right?
Seems like dropping the entire front suspension and kmember and suspending the engine over the top is a pretty big step to skip over.

Naw man it's part of the process...
You don't have to do it like that either. You could just take the engine out from the top or you can drop the engine with the kmember.

But I get it ...

I have a non pp car and I can see most of the oil pan so I guess if he can't get to it just take it to a shop.

Lol that's like saying the connecting rods are easy to remove because it's just 2 bolts holding them down. Completely skipping over the other steps you have to do to get to the connecting rods like tearing the entire engine down.
Naw man, it's a known fact there's an oil pan that needs to come off...

Using an Engine sling or a cherry picker to hold up the engine, and dropping the K member is the easiest way.

Or an engine support bar from harbor freight, I paid 70 bucks for mine.

I did the Gen 2 metal pan from PBH, I had a shop do mine, because there is no easy way to do it without dropping the K-member out of the way.

Was yours leaking? The gen 3 oil pan has some major improvements over the gen 2 setup.

Back when the gt500 pump and pan was a. Option for me it was around 900 USD. The links provided here suggest it is over 1100 USD.

How long did the stock setup last?

Easy drain oil remove bolts drop oil pan
You forgot to suggest since he drained the oil to go ahead and change the oil filter too ! But wait that's the hard part right ? Lol .... Alot more is involved in changing the oil pan then draining the oil and removing the oil pan bolts unfortunately.
